Hey all

I recently pulled my dash apart  :D for installing a new head unit.
In this context, i was wondering if i could switch the manual AC control to an auto control with lcd ? (would also have to swap the coverm where it's attached)

I figured out, that on the manual AC control, there are 3 sets of wires going to it.
On the Automatic AC control, there are only 2.

Anyone done this swap ? Replaced wiring ? Modifying wiring ?

Best regards

I haven't pulled that much apart, just the power socket panel to piggyback a USB power adapter, then carry the now converted 5V to the GPS mounted in the upper pocket (FD). I already have the auto AC in my SLX but I doubt that, with a reduction in wires (either model) you'll ever be able to do a quick switch panel swap to make it auto.  :scared:

Welcome Elvis .. I reckon auto climate control is over rated.. I've had it on our last 3 cars and end up overriding it to some extent. I don't think you can really beat a manual setup

The split one where you can have your side at a sensible temp while the good wife runs a sauna, though is ace!

I also agree, even my old Mercedes V8 SL does that :)

I don't think I you can easily swap the manual control with the auto one, maybe have a look on other forms and see if someone has done it on a different vehicle? I agree with the others I think the climate control is overrated I am always just using mine manually although I have to admit I do think it looks nicer then the manual set up.

Thank you all for your input. I will keep the manual ac.
Modifying wiring harness's are not my thing (yet)  :faint:
