Hi All,

Does anyone know if the i30 (especially the cw) has a low voltage cutout on the auxiliary power outlet at the rear of the car?  This power outlet is on full time even when the key is not in the car and the car is locked.

I'm planning a trip in January and am thinking about getting a cooler/fridge, but of course want to start the car in the morning :)

I have seen some low voltage cutout products on ebay, some on leads, and others you hard wire in.  The hard wire ones can be set to what voltage the user wants to stop the power getting through, whereas the ones on leads are set, which might be too low for the life of the battery.

Thanks :)

Hi Neil,

I doubt anyone will know that, but you might be lucky :sweating:

I doubt there's a cutout. I see 3 solutions:

1. Fit an on/off switch next to the outlet.

2. Get the garage (if you can't do it yourself) to connect the cable to only work when car is running.

3. Buy a battery gaurd. This thing will cut the power when volts is less than 11,5 Volt. It plugs into the power outlet.
This is a Danish site, but I'm sure you'll get the idea.  ;)

Thanks guys.

I ended up installing a battery guard and mounting it on the plastic next to the outlet.  This way I can adjust if needed.
