Hope that makes sense!  I've only recently noticed that when I lock my car with the remote, the lights do not flash to indicate that the car is locked but when I unlock the car, the lights flash.

My father thinks it is the result of a recent minor bingle I was involved in (right front and side panel damaged), but I don't think so.

Not sure what the deal is.  Any suggestions?

I might pop into Hyundai next week see if they can shed some light on this.  My car is now coming up to 6 years old (December) and is no longer under warranty.

I've never had to do anything, being trouble-free, but have you tried the famous battery disconnect reset?

Yes indicators work otherwise and no, have not disconnected battery.

As stated, lights flash when I unlock with the remote, so no issue with the indicator.

Sounds to me as if the alarm isn't being set when you lock with the remote, almost as if your hatch or bonnet isn't/aren't fully closed.

Bonnet switch is my guess. Either the switch isn't closing off enough or the rubber stopper has come out of the bonnet (maybe dad wasn't too far wrong)
If you find the rubber is still there push down on the bonnet where the switch is and try relocking. If it needs adjusting you may have to drill mounting holes in bracket a little bigger to move the switch up high enough.

all good suggestions,I have had this same problem,mine on investigation was a chewed wire by a Rat(but that was like I said, in my case)

Re bonnet.

If switch at fault try either,.

Sit in car engine off fob in hand and lock the car.
Leave a while to activate akarm, think 1 to 2 minutes, then pull the handle to release bonnet.
Alarm should sound.

Or

Lift bonnet and press button re bonnet  switch.
Again press fob to lock.
Leave to activate then let go of button
Alarm should sound .


Just thought on..... when you press fob to lock do the doors lock?

Yes the doors lock when using the fob, just the lights don't flash to indicate locked, only flash when unlocking.

Your bonnet switch is goosed, as suggested earlier.

Switch is on the left side looking towards  the car from the front just by the wheel arch.

From the picture the bonnet probe will be nowhere near the switch.  There will be a gap between the two.

You could bridge the bonnet switch contacts to enable interior alarm setting, but you would not have engine alarm protection. Better still, get it fixed.

It's going to the panel beater on 10 November.

Will go to Hyundai next week to see what the deal is.
