Anybody has one of them fitted to the diesel i30? I just need to find out which wire to tap into for the RPM signal.

Thanks,

Raz

What do you need a shift light for Razy?

I'm not sure how the tach is controled on the i30 CRDi , would probably run off a sensor on the crank. shift lights normaly trigger from fequency. i have noticed it's very hard to get good reliable shift lights that work right with the newer ECU's . i use one on my harley but i use the old style pill insert, its very reliable and trouble free, each pill has a set fequency and has written on them how many revs the trigger the light at, mine is very bright made by MSD.

What do you need a light for....
When the acceleration G-Force is reduced to the point where you are able to actually reach the gearstick;  change gears...

That's how it works !

Good suggestions, but I'm afraid I'm taking a more scientific approach than that! I found the tacho signal, if anybody needs to fit a shift light I can tell you where is it. Based on the dyno curve and the gear ratios I think the best shift point for the CRDi is around 4200RPM, a bit less if you are changing from 4th to 5th.

Glad you found it Razy.  So have you been able to hook up a shift light to it?  Whats the signal look like - is it just a pulses-per-second output?

I wouldn't go anywhere near 4200 rpm at any time under any circumstances  but then again I'm not Razy and I'm not pushing the arse off my i30
