- my Orient watch seems to start falling apart - two maintenance shop visits within a month
Any ideas of a possible replacements, lads?) (I own Casio Edifice too; need a mechanical watch with sapphire glass and automatic winding)
So you wont get one of those watches from a $2 shop then?:)
my Orient watch seems to start falling apart - two maintenance shop visits within a monthI've never had any problems with my Longines or Tissot automatics :goodjob2: My Longines watch also uses Hesalite crystal rather than sapphire as it lighter - stronger and will outlast the others :)

Citizen Eco driveI've got one of those too, an hour in the sun will keep it powered for about 3 months :goodjob2:
My Breitling 1894 Chronometre Certifie has never stopped, even in the dark. :happydance:
I once had a watch, when I was 7 years old, then the battery ran out and I never had another one since. That's why I don't buy battery watches :D the quality and workmanship is in Swiss automatics and I never leave home without one, I think some of my watches are older than you are :snigger:
Not sure if its good or not, but I got 54.71l of Diesel into the 53l tank, first click, no brimming shenenigans. Tomorrow its time for service again.
I once had a watch, when I was 7 years old, then the battery ran out and I never had another one since. Yet I somehow still manage to keep better track of time than my watch wielding friends. I do get the entire jewelry thing, I just never was one for adornments. :P

- i don't have a watch..........
Cheers, mines a john smith's- i don't have a watch..........
The "last orders" bell tells you when it's 11pm
Wierd you got that much in on first click! What has Mom got to do with anything (on your receipt)
and... How in the hell do you survive without a watch! I understand there are plenty of clocks around, but even though I'm now retired I'm a stickler for punctuality. I'm always checking the time... "Sh*t, the kids will be here shortly, I better get my skates on....."
That's why I don't buy battery watches :D the quality and workmanship is in Swiss automatics and I never leave home without one, I think some of my watches are older than you are :snigger:My wife has one older than our combined age, good watches seem to outlive their owners by a hefty margin.
Depends what you call a watch, Russell. My wife just pick up the latest model Fitbit which tells time among many other things.
:victory:Depends what you call a watch, Russell. My wife just pick up the latest model Fitbit which tells time among many other things.
Trish uses a Garmin Vivofit 2 as a watch and step tracker. :goodjob:
Wearing a watch is unfashionable these days, most would rather use a mobile phone... :Pout::Yeah: :crap:

Does anyone use an automatic winding device, by the way?Yes, mine is like this one available from Watch Works

I think you're out of touch with reality Rusty, classic watches are as popular as ever especially in the designer ranges, take a walk into Smales and you'll see that the vintage classic look has and will never die out plus all the new oversized face models that are all the trend now as well as the new ceramic watches.Wearing a watch is unfashionable these days, most would rather use a mobile phone... :Pout::Yeah: :crap:
YES, I do...I'm talking about traditional watches, not these mini computers strapped to your wrist which, as an aside, are able to display the time!
I'm not saying there aren't still people buying traditional watches... :head_butt:
What I see though is that many people now don't bother with a watch, instead they just look at the time on their mobile phone...
Of those that do wear a watch, many now seem to be sporting a smartwatch or some sort of fitness based watch...
That's the "reality" I see.... :undecided:
However, I don't see the need for having a built in EPIRB, unless it is for the "wank" factor. "Look at my watch, it has an EPIRB!"
... especially if it's also an ePerv :whistler:However, I don't see the need for having a built in EPIRB, unless it is for the "wank" factor. "Look at my watch, it has an EPIRB!"
I wouldn't like a watch like that, you could get caught. :whistler:
Call those watches? :rolleyes:Don't try to get through airports with it, they might think it's a bomb :D
Here's a watch I wish I had (might just buy one for the hell of it)(click to show/hide)
My watch is the cheapest Casio watch I could find which is self adjusting, cheap as chips and keeps PERFIK time.... :crazy1: :crazy1: :crazy1: :crazy1: :crazy1: :crazy1:Just like my first Timex.
I don't need a watch because I have a big clock. :neutral:Is it Swiss, Japanese only have small clocks :whistler:
Big Ben is the bell, not the clock. :whistler:Well if the bell is big the clock must be huge :D

You're all softclocks. :P
DazzlerIt's ok Misha, I paid, Trish just gave me some money towards it. Anyway, I'll refer to it from now on as a fitness band that tells the time. :D
To get a watch as a birthday gift is deemed a bad omen here, so a coin must be given in turn (the same works with knife).
First I wanted my girlfriend to get me Citizen as a present of the forthcoming birthday, but changed it to a coffeemachine :)
(my previous one stays in my mother's home, so have only capsule coffeemaker along with moka and Turk)
Finally I bought myself the new watch - Casio Edifice; solar powered and radio controlled :happydance:.
My another Edifice was borrowed by my future wife at once)

:brilliant: I could almost hear your brain ticking over thinking of that! Finally I bought myself the new watch
At least you took your time :D and didn't Russian to it. :)
Hope your always on time!I'm usually early 😁
The Citizen eco drive still keeping perfect time must be 15 yearsold now?
I see what you mean... A $3000 here..Looking in the wrong place Dazz, you'd have to be crazy to buy watches in Australia when can get from the Singapore and Hong Kong stores for a fraction of the price they try to rip us off here :link: Items in creationwatches au store on eBay ! It's ok Craig I think $300 is a lot for a watch... so I won't be buying one of those in a hurry!Have a look on Creation Watches, a $300 watch here would likely be half or less there :)
CraigBYes they're genuine, comes with the key card and international warranty :goodjob2:
mmm, the price there is quite attractive in case it is a genuine watch
This one trumps you all. A Russian masterpiece. You can get replicas on ebay for $5.99 But I'm guessing that an original would be dearer...

I have a Casio Wave Ceptor. It connects every night to the atomic clock and is absolutely bang on the correct time. It cost less than £50. Why pay anything up to several thousand pounds for something no where near as accurate?.Craftsmanship :)
I'm sure I read somewhere here that some big name in fashion watches once said "If you want something that tells the time, get a Timex".
My timex may be donkey's years old but keeps exact time.I'm sure I read somewhere here that some big name in fashion watches once said "If you want something that tells the time, get a Timex".
Love it!
I did think about buying one from here, but I understand that they are in the main no where near as accurate as my Casio. Not to hard to adjust a watch, even my cheaper Seiko automatic is accurate to within 100th of a second per year, wonder how many years I get before I have to adjust it for 1 second :whistler:

Nice! How much? :cool:I should have pre-empt that question Dazz :) from Germany it came to $525, they're $1040 in shops here.
 how many arms have you got? :crazy2:13, plus a few antique pocket watches :)
Do you have a phobia of running out of time? how many arms have you got? :crazy2:13, plus a few antique pocket watches :)
Do you have a phobia of running out of time? never enough time :)
I do like the Seikos, mine's 11 years now, first one was 13. Not a mark on the sapphire glass and driven over once :winker:
Beat THIS!Ooooh thats a rare one, I'll have to get myself one of them

I like Seiko too which is what I have tended to buy in the past, since I was a kid, in fact.Just thinking Doggie the recording time device you have would be good for any seafarer who wanted to "watch" something on the video "watch" while on "watch" Having said that I will watch for any comment thereon.
Now I wear a nice shiny one (not Seiko) that records video for me. :D
Who has a watch that is a pearler to see the face at night timeMe :) Seiko S5 Automatic field watch
Yep. It's a genuine. No problem, my log doesn't show all variations so was just curious :goodjob2: I've nothing against fakes either, I did have a couple of Patek replicas though I broke one and gave the other to my Father :)
The photos from Hamilton almost look like theyre digitally created.
The 7750 is certainly the thickest movement I have but at least you never forget you're wearing a watch...
Ahem... Apple Watch... but phone calls can = money for me so it's a business proposition. But I appreciate a good watch.I was admiring the new Apple Watch during the Keynote the other night, very nice...especially the Hermes collection :)

Yes $700 for a leather strap is a bit high :whistler: plus they have custom faces included in the software :)Ahem... Apple Watch... but phone calls can = money for me so it's a business proposition. Love the Hermes. And for only $2000, one can be yours! Actually, $2000 is very reasonable for a quality watch, but I don't see how you can justify a watch band for that sort of money! Which is what you're paying for.
Love the Hermes.
I think they're a leather accessory maker or something. Made for the rich and stupid. They’re a seriously overpriced fashion accessories company :link: Hermes - The official Hermes online store (https://www.hermes.com/au/en/)

Yeah I suppose, $490 isn't much compared to the $1500 sneakers and $1000 sandals :faint:They’re a seriously overpriced fashion accessories company :link: Hermes - The official Hermes online store (https://www.hermes.com/au/en/)
I think you're being a bit harsh. Those t-shirts are only $490
Steinhart Nav-b hand wind...Steinhart is nice with the bronze look :goodjob2:
This was when it was new and it now has a nice patina.
