Brakes are behaving a little strange since early summer 2011.

And before Ffoxy shows up in a hurry, suggesting the usual silicon spray  I have to say that last week I was going downwards a scarp ramp with 1st gear thrown in and while touching gently the brake, I heard the same creaking noise as above but this time it lasted as long as I kept my foot steady on the pedal (3-4 sec).
Today I left my car at the dealer who doesn't have a clue. Unfortunately it will be fixed (that is, I hope) next... year.
I'm counting on a replacement car for tomorrow.
Brake master cylinder? something else?

Thanks for that. I was expecting a reply at his convenience. Anyhow, on our RHD cars there is a shaft to transmit the pedal pressure to the LHS master cylinder.  My next question was, where does the creaking appear to come from. On our cars it would be easy to identify the right side or the left as the source of the noise, but for a LHD car, pinpointing the noise is going to be more difficult. Listening to the video, it sounds like a coil return spring creak at the 2 points of contact, eg the pedal and presumably the car chassis.

that popping noise sounds like the diaphragm in the brake booster.  the brake pedal on babis's car is hooked straight to the booster because its left hand drive,on a right hand drive i30 the brake pedal is hooked to the booster via a rod that runs over to the left hand side of the car,and thats where the booster and master cylinder are.

They've just called. My car is ready to go as they didn't hear anything so problem does not exist
Ok, I know about their policy but I would expected at least that they should test it properly for a couple of days.

... on our RHD cars there is a shaft to transmit the pedal pressure to the LHS master cylinder.  My next question was, where does the creaking appear to come from. On our cars it would be easy to identify the right side or the left as the source of the noise, but for a LHD car, pinpointing the noise is going to be more difficult. Last time the car was in, they had eliminated the case of being a friction issue so I will point them to this "shaft". Thanks for your suggestions.
I have to go over there now. Update will come later on.

Don't bother, you don't have this shaft. Why not show them the video & see if they think it doesn't exist after they see it.  :undecided:

Assuming the brake fluid level is correct, & also assuming the brakes have no other defect in operation, if the noise is constant even when the braking foot is not moving, I'd suspect a brake servo issue.

Silicone spray lubricant is not the solution here  :P :P :P

Ok here is my take on this.

I wonder whether there is a rod connected to the pedal which goes from the left side to the right side of the car then connects to the brake unit in the engine area on the right side.

This rod is catching on something which is causing the noise.

I say this as on some cars, depending on the placement of the brake unit which isn't directly behind the pedal, a connecting rod is needed to allow the pedal on the left to connect to the unit on the right.

Just an idea to check out.

I didn't have to as we were finally able to confirm the noise. No suggestion made from them but they assured me that it's nothing serious (???) so I picked up the car (after I put them to write down "brakes checked, no problem found" on the service receipt  They told me to bring the car in again tomorrow.

Douze point /2. There is a rod.

Another douze point /2 :D

A dealer's mechanic suggested unofficially that the noise is caused by the rod or the servo (I also believe the second)

Silicone spray lubricant is not the solution here  :P :P :P
They told me that they did a lubricant spraying on the pedal

Brake pedal has developed one more, related to the 1st but even worst sound

Since my dealer had no clue (besides he wouldn't admit this noise is a problem at all), I decided to visit another dealer just before Easter.
They replaced the stop-light button behind the pedal but noise reappeared 10min later (besides it happens after a while when driving in town, esp. in hot weather)

It drives me sooo crazy that I don't want to use the brake anymore... +

2 things to check.

Can you have someone listen inside the engine bay at the brake booster, to see if the creak is there.

also check / lubricate the pivot point of the brake pedal and the return spring particularly where it contacts the brake pedal and the body of the car.
