Hi,

I'm looking to purchase an air compressor but wanted to know what is the amps of the 12V socket in a 2014 i30 Active 5DR Hatchback.

Importantly, would I be able to use a 15 amp air compressor.

Thank you!

Quickest way may be for you to check the fusebox. The fuse rating is your max limit. :victory:

If it's anything like the FD, it'll be 10 Amps. The FD has that marked on the socket too.

Okay thanks.  The manual notes 20 amp but I'll check the fuse box as suggested!

Looked at fuse box under the steering wheel.

Active GD2 2014 i30 - 20 amp "cigarette lighter" even though the car doesn't have a cigarette lighter, 15 amp front power supply and 15 amp rear power supply.

The front has two 12v power supplies at the front so I'm assuming the right one is the 20 amp and the left one is 15 amp.  Otherwise they share the same 15 amp fuse and the 20 amp is referring to when there was a lighter?

Anyway the air compressor I'm getting is 15 amp so all clear either way!

Hope others find this info useful.

Anyone know is the 20 amp refers to the right 12v power supply at the front?

By your own description, the power supplies front and rear are each separately fused @ 15 Amp.

I meant the two 12v at the front on the console.  Not sure if one is 20 amp and 15 amp (as suggested on the fuse label - cigarette lighter and front power supply).  Or if fused as the 15 amp.

My suggestion to you would be to remove each fuse and then try each receptacle to see which fuse is controlling each. The one with 20 amps, would be the preferred one to use with your compressor. :)
