About three weeks before Christmas I was driving down a major rural road near my home. I noticed a group of people sweltering in the sun beside a Barina :spitty: bearing Tasmanian number plates.
Surprisingly, the Barina :spitty: (aka Opel Corsa) had made it up to Queensland; no doubt before the head cracked. All windows were rolled down, indicating that the air conditioning had, as expected, stopped working in Melbourne.

The owners did nothing more than remove their number plates before a saintly Queenslander drove them into town.
The next day the car had a large ‘police are aware’ notice stuck to the rear window. Obviously, a concerned Queenslander had reported the abandoned car, unaware that nobody steals Barinas.

If the car had been abandoned in Victoria, the wheels would have disappeared on the first night, if in NSW, the car would have been torched instantly; but here in perfect Queensland, the car has remained untouched for weeks with the windows still down.
Two days ago, it started to rain, so a true blue Queenslander stopped and wound the windows up.

  Very good Gary...

Sadly that would have been the case 10 years ago in Tassie but now all the yobo's who couldn't make it on the Gold Coast are down here ransacking and torching our abandoned/stranded cars....  :whistler:

Probably true, Dazz. But most of those ex Gold Coasters would have been southern transplants in the first place.  :happydance:

My Question is simply WHY ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Would you bother  winding the windows up  It's only a Barina and a dead one at that, over here the second day all the windows would be smashed, third day all the panels would be damaged(if it was a decent car they would have been stripped)then the fifth day it would be torched and finally Day seven an asian or indian scrappy would come and take it,Aussie scrappies are two lazy to actually pick em up,they just work out of wrecking yards and chage them fifty bucks to take a body away.

you kids did no grow up pre air-conditioning , Australia was just as hot then too and most cars in old days 1950's were gloss black.
i used to go out the bush a lot & most lived in corrugated iron houses no air conditioning, they tell me we only got air conditioning as the new arrivals could not handle the heat.
Also as a boy in Sydney no one locked cars no one locked houses. then we started taking in people from other country's & we had to start locking everything, we also had to start listening to winging & cry baby's
but we love them all!!!! i was at the club other night and one mate who is Italian heritage the other Greek heritage both now proud Aussies.

What's the Australian definition of foreplay?

"Oi, you awake?"

What's the Tasmanian's definition of foreplay?

"Oi, you awake mum?"

About 30 years ago I first found out I had a cousin and an Auntie in Hobart. It was unusual because they were two separate people!  True Story!

It's True! Unfortunately my Auntie Rita died last year aged 81, but her Son Stephen who is in his 50's still lives there. My Dad's brother Bob ( Bob's your uncle!) died 20 odd yearss ago.. :Pout:
