Ok so I normally put 95 octane fuel in my car, but I filled up today and accidentally put 98 in, will this do any damage to my car? Or will it just run a bit better?

Which state or territory of The Great Southern Land are you in, may I ask?

I reside in the good ol' state of New South Wales. Definitely does run a lot smoother with the 98.....

I alternate fills...98, 95 but try and avoid E10.  Only had my i30 2 litre a few weeks but putting 98 and 95 in it. Did the same with the Tucson I had for 4 years, never missed a beat on that type of fuel.

Yes, I know the 'experts' say E10 is OK,  but personal choice.  I don't do a lot of k's. Only did 32,000km in my Tucson over 4 years which incidentally had the exactly the same engine as my i30, the Beta 11 engine.   Had the i30 Trophy 3 weeks and only done 500 kms I had better get out there!

@Lester, E10 is not a bad fuel, it has a higher octane level than standard unleaded. It won't take you as far because it has a lower energy value per litre, but, the ethanol in E10 also emulsifies any water you may have in your tank, (hopefully always none). I use it in my Holden Commodore without any problems.

Thanks mate, I will give the E10 a run then, maybe they tweeked the 2 litre Beta II engine to run better on E10, even though that engine has been around for several years in the Elantra and Tucson as well.

I wouldn't touch the stuff, myself....

It may be slightly cheaper but you don't go as far on it so I can't see the point...  :fum:

Your not supposed to drink it

I already stated that it doesn't go as far but the added protection of water removal is worth running it occasionally. Remember every litre of renewable ethanol reduces our dependancy on the oil under the Sahara.
