Phoned up the dealer spare parts to get a cost of an oil filter and was quoted $17.90 for my 2014 GD i30 petrol. After seeing reports about the high prices Hyundai dealers charge for filters I did not think this was to bad. Online I saw a cost for genuine Hy oil filter of $25.99. Hyundai dealer, spare parts would not give me a parts number for the filter, is this the normal practice ?

Probably, although not difficult to source the number elsewhere. Prices do vary quite considerably so you have to shop around eBay, Hyspares etc. Most places require the vin or MY & model to confirm the correct part. If you do obtain parts, the part number is on the carton and invoice, so just copy it down for next time.

I'll probably only supply the oil when donkey is due. The filter doesn't seem too absorbant.

26300 35503 I believe is the part number (Ryco Z79A).

You can get a 6 pack with free delivery for $55.99 on Ebay

Otherwise give your local Kia dealer a call for a price, they use the same filter in a different box.
