Title: 1.4 FD (G4FA) - ODB II fuel consumption?
Post by: tork on July 31, 2017, 19:23:51
Hi,
as a owner of i30 not equipped with trip computer with fuel consumption I'm wondering if it is possible to read real-time fuel consumption by OBD II interface.
I found an extension to popular Torque Pro app with description:

Quote
Advanced EX is a plugin for Torque Pro, extending the PID/Sensor list with more than 10 specific parameters from HYUNDAI vehicles, including:
[...]
* Fuel Injector Pulse Width / Duty Cycle

So, in theory, it should allow to calculate fuel consumption with good accuracy. But it's not confirmed (or not tested) to work with my engine. Do you have any experience with that?

There are a number of devices that can be plugged into OBDII that will read and report data, including fuel usage.  I've used a Scangauge II device in the past to do this.  There are others.  They do need to be calibrated, but this usually takes only a few refuels to get right.

I'm sure if you do a search on the forum for OBDII and Scangauge you'll get heaps of results.
