For anyone who is interested, here is a quick review of my Hybrid after 8 months and close to 18,000 kms of driving.

Had the 15,000 service roughly a month ago (fixed price of $130) and have had no warranty claims to make so far. Have $130 fixed priced services every 15K up to and including the 75,000 service (will get to that before the 4 year cut off)

Warranty is only 36 months /100,000 kms (although the battery is covered for 8 years/160,000 kms)

Overall average fuel economy according to the trip computer has been 5.7 LPH since I reset it after a couple of 1000 kms. This seems about right as I go close to 1000 kms between fills and put in around 55-56 litres.

Overall delighted with the vehicle, quick, quiet, comfortable and economical.

This is an optioned up base model. I do miss the auto wipers and leather upholstery of my previous 2010 Luxury version a little bit. The previous leather seats were perhaps a tad more comfortable and the previous model gave a more cosseted ride.

This model has slightly firmer suspension (so stays flatter and handles the twisty bits with more aplomb) If I wasn't so tight, I would enjoy the power of this model even more by leaving the eco button off

So in summary my only negatives are the slightly harsh ride in some conditions (broken up bitumen) and the interior trim feels a bit less solid (result of major weight reduction in this model)

On the positive side, considerably more responsive (particularly when overtaking) and around .5 LPH overall economy improvement.

Considering I only paid around A$34,000 (with $1400 worth of extras thrown in) not much to complain about. Still pinch myself most days and thank my lucky stars I have such a nice vehicle to cruise around in.

Any questions, fire away.

Hi mate, good to see you visiting  :goodjob: .. Just had the 30,000 service at 14 months (only $90 as I supplied my own fully synthetic oil)

Still no warranty claims.. Great car (go for it)  :victory:

Nice car that, Dazzler. Does that have the 2.5l 4 pot?

Was it an import or sold officially in Australia by Toyota?

Thank you!  :goodjob: Built here in Australia from local and imported parts. Mine has a fully imported 2.5 litre Motor 4 Cyl motor + Electric of course. Think they are making the motor locally now.

They are selling a lot better than the previous model hybrid after winning several awards for best medium sized car in 2012. Awesome combination of power, handling, comfort and economy.  :happydance:

A lot more about it here..

Dazzler is getting a 2012 Hybrid Camry (NOW WITH PIX)

Awesome combination of power, handling, comfort and economy.  :happydance:

I keep looking at the used Lexus GS 450h hybrid here in the UK, available stupid cheap and amazing performance figures from the 3.5/6 cylinder boosted with the electric motor.

Wish they sold the Camry here.

Lexus would be nice. :goodjob: (Bit dear new)

Nothing comes close to the Camry for what we paid.. A Mazda 6 diesel would be nice but $10K dearer

They do, but not the hybrid, most economical here is the Avensis 2.0D.  Toyota Europe dropped the old names so the Corolla became the Auris and the Camry the Avensis.

I'm aware that what is now sold to us as an Auris is still called the Corolla in some markets, but I didn't think the Avensis was the Camry?  I don't think they use the same platform?

I don't think you're right, Brian.

The Avensis is the successor to the Toyota Carina E
