Hello and welcome aboard....

This is not good, surely the Hy dealer could see that it was not working????     That's the problem and it's is job to fix it for you.   Anyhow lets see what the other club member say.   Good luck  :goodjob: :goodjob:

Greetings neyobee,

Welcome to the forum. Tell us more about your car, I assume it's not brand new, so is it still in warranty and how long ago did you purchase it and where from, a dealer or privately.

Hi neyobee

Welcome to the forum.

Don't think we have had a faulty speedo before.

If the fault is constant they can of course find the fault. There's not that many possibilities regarding the speedo. There's a sensor somewhere, then the wiring to the speedo, and then, of course the instrumentcluster.

They should be able to test the speedo and sensor with the computer, but the wiring could be a little tricky if it works via Can-Bus system.

Do you still have warranty on the car..

I bought the car almost 2yrs ago from a private seller on autotrader. when i took it the dealer i was told the warranty is invalid because a repair has been done the car, the guy said they have never experience a problem with speedometer and the diagnostic didnt show any fault.

Welcome neyobee, Bit of a tricky one  :undecided:

If possible try another dealer, don't let on you have been elsewhere and don't say anything about the warranty problem  :whistler:

"Just say my speedo is not working, assume this is a warranty fix"  :winker:

I assume you have tried WD40 and duct tape? If all else fails a find a large hammer handy as well

Don't forget the silicon spray  :happydance:

What repair caused the warranty to be void, how can they prove this occurred?

Have you seen my tool box, Dazz?  If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use WD40.  There aren't many other problems I can see.

neyobee, you don't tell us what country you're in so it makes it a bit hard to tailor advice but I agree with what was said above regarding the "repair".
I can't imagine what it would be which would invalidate the warranty on the speedo.
The repair should only affect parts immediately associated with the repair.

In any case, if a Hyundai dealer can't diagnose the problem, try another dealer. There shouldn't be ANYTHING they can't diagnose.

Welcome to the forum.
I can't add more than has already been said.
I would be re-checking about the voided warranty though and seeking some firm answers.

So. What sort of repair would invalidate warranties on these items?

neyobee, if you cant get it fixed without forking out an arm and a leg.. get a GPS with Speedo function (like  a garmin) or maybe even a cheaper brand if they have that option.. I use my GPS as a 2nd more accurate speedo  :goodjob:

In UK a non working speedo is an MOT failure and also a fine and points.
