Hey,

Having this issue in my fiancé’s i30 GD Tourer 2013.

When going higher speeds and straight on the highway, I’m noticing it seems to lock the steering wheel, enough to make you think you’re going crazy as a small amount of effort clicks it back into normal operation, then steady driving again it’ll happen, which makes you feel you need to constantly move the wheel a little to compensate and you end up looking like a drunk driver swaying around.

Read online it could be power steering fluid needing to be topped up or changed, no idea where to even begin to look, happy to take it in for inspection but would much prefer to check it out myself for some sanity.

Is it on normal, comfort or sports mode?

What speeds are you doing when this happens?

If you alter speed, either faster or slower, does it still happen?
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

Yes, that's what the EPS was doing on my GD i30. It locks on slightly one way, then you have to correct it manually, then it locks on the other way.
It only happens at highway speeds.
Mine was (eventually) fixed under NCW by a dealership.
Touch wood, no such issues in my PD2.
