Title: flywheel locking tool
Post by: Jordie on August 18, 2016, 19:23:18
As anyone needed to do a job which requires locking the flywheel?

The tool is 09231-2A100 but ive had trouble ordering it from 2 european sites.

As anyone used a universal type tool sucessfully?

I would normally use a bearing shell or screwdriver to lock the flywheel, but im working alone on the timing chain end of the engine so its going to be tricky to hold the screwdriver etc when working in the confinded area under the drivers side wheel arch.

I am only interested if you personally have used a universal tool (if so what brand/part) or if you have a OEM hyundai/kia tool i can borrow and ill pay you for your trouble.

Cheers
Jordie

For the GTR I made my own ring gear stopper, but there's nothing wrong with the el-cheapo stuff available.
Remove the starter and then it engages in a few ring gear teeth, bolts to bell housing using the starter bolts.
Balancer bolt on an Rb26 is 330 to 340 ft lbs.
