Title: Won't start. Battery fine.
Post by: Coatman on April 07, 2021, 23:37:18
I can't start my car. 2011 i30 crdi. I unlocked the door as normal by pushing button on my key remote, put the key in, turn 3/4 and everything lights up as normal. When I turned it the last bit to start the engine everything just died, nothing would light up anymore. Got out of the car, locked and unlocked with remote, tried to start the car again and same result.

Please help, Tia.

Welcome.

Have you actually tested the battery, volts/CCA?

You can't write off the battery as ok without a proper test - while it may have enough juice to run the dashboard lights, starting (especially a diesel) sucks a lot of amps which it may not have.

Did it click at all?

Do the DRL dim when key is turned to start?

But hard to diagnose things without being there but sounds like a battery to me. Get it tested before buying a new one - good luck

@ coatman. In case you didn't know, "DRL" mentioned by josh1990 is "Daytime Running Lights"  e.g. front fairy lights.
