Hm , I`ve got a problem with my hatch . It began last year when it was opening it self randomly. Then the problem disappeared .Now it`s totally dead so i have to open it from the inside.

I`ve tried to remove the battery for 10 minutes and i also changed the whole lock. I also cleaned the "button" ( even on the inside ) Nothing helpes...   :fum: .

Does anyone have any idea of what i can do now ?

Have you checked the fuse hasn't blown?

Or is it possible that the cold weather is causing the mechanism to be inoperable/freeze

  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

HA ! Got it  :D

It was a connector that was full of green erosion. Three of the pins was totaly eroded off.

I made a bypass-operation and it all worked again.

For future i30 owners with the same problem,it was the connector coming from the pushbutton and the lights for the plate. It has 5 cables in it,four in the top row and one in the lower row. White.
Just remove the cover on the inside of the trunk and it's there in the middle.

Quick fix when you know what it is    :P

Hi stormaren

Welcome to the forum.  :D

My guess would be the switch in the tailgate, but seems like you got it sorted now.. :goodjob2:

Hi stormaren, and welcome :D

My guess would also be the switch in the tailgate - look for green corrosion, possibly on three of the pins :whistler:

Glad it's sorted, and thanks for letting us know your findings :goodjob:

We don't got one of those anyway.
Just opens from outside.
With an old fashioned handle. :disapp:

What..

I thought the only difference from EU cars and OZ cars was the suspension. (well, you have the steering wheel in the wrong side too)

Mine is a 2008 Korean build, but also have the electric tailgate opener.

If there's corrosion to that degree on the wiring contacts, I'd be looking for the source and eliminating the problem. There could be other damage being caused in there over time.  :(

Hello, I'm having the same issue with regards to boot not opening - seemed to get worse over the cold weather and been intermittent since it's warmed up a little.

Tried to remove the cover to take a look but I get as far as unscrewing the two screws in the middle and not sure how to get the cover off completely - don't want to force it in the wrong place and snap the plastic.

Any hints on getting it off to take a look at the wiring?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jon are you still under warranty (well your car anyway...) I wouldn't be fiddling with it could be the actuator which is a common fault...

Sadly not under warranty as the previous owner decided it was too much trouble getting the car serviced...

Going to take it in to the dealer anyway I think!

That is not gonna affect the warranty on the boot, Jon...

Take it to your nearest dealer and let them fix it.
