New/second hand car question: Not sure if I'm doing something wrong however to open the hatch I need to first unlock the vehicle as the hatch open button on the remote doesn't seem to work if the vehicle is locked, is this normal ?

The owners manual for this vehicle is very difficult to interpret, anyone would think someone from South Korea wrote it.

Being my first Hyundai I'm still getting used to it.

Silver not sure what you saying but mine,if the car is locked,I can push the hatch button to unlock just the hatch,I still have to manually open the hatch the hatch does'nt open automatically,Oh! and as Pip said you have to hold the button for a couple of seconds.

Don't forget to keep your keys with you, as the hatch re-locks itself automatically when you close it.

If it's a GD with keyless start, the vehicle won't lock if you leave the key in the boot, or for that matter, anywhere within the vehicle.  Try leaving one key in the car and use the other to lock the vehicle - it won't - it just bears at you.
