OK so I can tell the wheels are nice.....

We should get better pics from punters at the detroit show (and more official pics) on the 10th....

It has just one door at the rear (kerbside).

They also confirm there will be a 208bhp version for some markets.

On sale for Europe and USA for spring, UK from autumn.

Sounds like a good idea, one rear door, although I qualify that with the comment that, I've not really thought it through

I guess it saves weight without compromising functionality too much. I presume they'll have blended it in so you can't tell its a door.

The concept of a rear door on the kerb side only is a good one. Too often do you see people allowing their young children to exit a car on the road side and into possible traffic as well as parents strapping their babies into capsules or booster seats with that rear door wide open onto the road.. From this perspective it is good but there may be other considerations which we may have to think about.

Also I notice the rear hatch swings open from what appears to be a long up the roof.. seems to open it right up no swing out behind the car..could be good! :)

Pretty sure there was a move afoot a few years ago when people movers first got popular to have only a curbside rear door but I can't remember the detail.  I know when we went  to Canada for our son's wedding in 2002 his best man hired a Chrysler Voyager to move a few of us around and I was surprised to find it had 2 rear doors. Maybe the one which came into Oz only had one.
Ah! God I hate getting old.
Come on guys. Shoot me down. :scared:

Hello!

Today I had a chance to take the Hyundai Veloster for a spin :) I must say it's an interesting car. Drives and handles very well, though I would like to have more powerful engine. The one I drove was petrol 1.6 liter engine with 140 HP. The fuel economy is great, the engine is also great, but it's much more suitable for for i30. In Veloster, which is some kind of Coupe or something like that, it's just not enough (IMHO). BUT, the good news is, that Veloster will also be available with 2.0 TURBO (petrol) engine. So that's something new from Hyundai. And that is exactly what I would like to see (or even better - to drive) in that car.

And some data about the car I drove:

Hyundai Veloster 1.6 GDI (140HP)
Torque: 167 Nm / 4.850 rpm
Max speed: 201 km/h
0-100 km/h: 9,7 sec
Fuel cons: 5,9 - 6,5 lit (/100 km)

Anyways, here are some pictures I took today

Excellent photos accim (you are in the wrong occupation)  :judges:

I don't really like the styling but that colour and the decoration they have added for the demonstrator helps quite a lot... It could grow on me (A 2.0 ltr Turbo engine would help a lot)

Thanks for the info and pix..  :brilliant:

You are one of a growing list of wonderful members I would really like to meet one day  :goodjob2:

P.S. I like the wheels (Hyundai are getting pretty good with their wheel designs)  :happydance:

Those have been on sale here for about 5 months here, and I'm starting to see more and more of them on the road. At first, I wasn't too impressed, but now i like them. Hopefully, then will turn into an on-the-road testing platform for all kinds of new goodies. There is now an available dual-clutch paddle shifting transmission, which is really cool IMO. I've also heard talks of them cramming the 2.4L turbo engine from a Sonata (i40 to most of you???) which is coming out later this year.

As for the third door, I don't really have any problems with them, they've been in pickup trucks and on the Mazda RX-8 long enough for me to get used to it.

the rear would have to be on the opposite side to be released in r/h drive countries,so the passengers could enter and exit on the curb and not the road. ?  :scared:

I saw a Renault Megane Coupe yesterday and it occurred to me that the Veloster is very similar, what do you think??
