what are most people getting? Not sure if mine is getting what it should, I am in Australia, some of it has been town and highway driving, most in summer/warm temps so the air con has been on.

Welcome to the Club Maggie .. That sounds pretty right for combined with air on.. If you peruse the economy threads you will see mixed results some better some worse (assuming you are talking a manual?)

thanks for the welcome, yes it is a 2l manual, ver happy with it, however my poor old 84 1.6 manual Camira still outdid this one, I used to get 39m to the gallon, I was born in 1966 but my father always worked the fuel econ in miles per gallon

Unfortunately most 2.0 ltr motors will be thirstier than a 1.6 Ltr  (The 1.6 Ltr manual i30 is a bit less thirsty - would probably beat the camira  )

Hi Maggie and welcome.
Your figures are about the same as mine for the same sort of conditions.
I'm old fashioned enough to also believe the modern engine with all its anti pollution stuff is nowhere near as economical as older engines. So I'm happy enough with around 8 point something l/100klms.

You've also got to take into account that our i30's weigh a fair bit more (300kg or so) than the old Camira which is not gonna help with fuel consumption......

welcome Maggie66.  i take my hat off to you for having the guts to admit to owning a camira.  how many kms have you got on your i30? you wont get excellent fuel economy until you've got around 10,000kms up.

Proud to have owned my Camira, it was a very good car, I had it for at least 12 years, I ran it into the ground and it was about 9 years old when I bought it, I had very little trouble with it until the end. 

I have about 6,500km on the Hyundai, never thought I would ever have a Hyundai, I didn't like the Excel or have a very good impression of them, however I am happy with this little bus, nearly had  a 1.4 (?) auto Getz, I wasn't impressed with it's lack of power, I then looked at the 1,6 manual Getz and ended up with this one, I doubt I would have been as happy with the Getz, only wish I had cruise control as my ankle gets tired while driving long distances.

I bought a brand new Camira Wagon in 1984 which apart from a couple of very minor quality issues fixed under warranty was a great little car....Handled and drove well for a 1.6 Wagon

I've been led to believe the camira was the most unreliable car that g.m.h. ever produced.  i think I've been given a bum steer,especially when i have two different people within just minutes saying they were a good reliable car.

Steve, I think the main issue with them was the build quaility, or lack of.......

That and issues with smoky engines, crap paint, rust and rubbish plastics.......oh, and underpowered engines....

But, they did win "Wheels car of the year" in 82 so they must've been good.....

At the time it was out of a Honda Civic or The Camira. At the time the Civic was a 2 door and it was extra even for a digital clock. For the same money we got the 4/5 door Camira Wagon with quite a few extras and a lot more room. The only two things that went wrong was a noisy speedo cable replaced under warranty and a tiny bit of rust in the engine bay where thay had drilled a hole and left the fillings where they landed .. they just cleaned that up and good as new.

We found it really handy and nice to drive but got rid of it after a bit over a year by downtrading to get some extra money to build a house 

This was shortly after they won Car of the year (I thought it was 1983) but later on they started having heater coil issues and rust etc.. so was good we got rid of it before the resale took a dive
