Just bought an i10 for my wife; a 10 month old, 1.2 SE in Grey with 8500 miles on the clock.  Very nice little bus but will be even better when my wife has got it home next Saturday and I can set about detailing it.

I've just told her that she's my guinea pig; depending how the i10 is / goes / lasts will have a bearing on whether I get myself an i30, when she said "I don't know if I want to be your guinea pig" I simply said "OK you pay the balance for your new car when we go to collect it next Saturday" she soon shutup

We don't get the i10 here in Aus ( base model is the i20 ) though I wouldn't think that you could compare it to an i30, totally different car in everyway imaginable.

My dad had 1.2 l i10 and it is a good car for town but on longer trips i found it lacked the power to enjoy the journey.

Great for parking and nippy on short trips.

Comfy for 4 adults but again power issue when fully laden.

Prefer my i30 any day.

All I'm saying is that it's a Hyundai so will give me a taste, so far after only 2 test drives I'm highly impressed  :)

Wife is mainly in and around villages and she's the first to admit that she's a slow, careful driver so I'm sure it'll be ideal for her.  We had a good 2 hour test drive on a variety of roads, including motorways and I was impressed and I'm not an easy to please person.

Looks, ride and equipment are way better than her 5 year old Ford Ka Titanium diesel although in it's defence, the Ka has been a good car but time has come for a change and we'd weeded the list down to either an i10 or a FIAT Panda.

Given what you've said about your wife's requirements, I think you've made a perfect decision. One of my neighbours has the same spec i10 in the same colour, and it looks (and sounds) pretty good.

Next comes the i30...?

I'm not far from you (near Bolton) - tempted to travel up to Clitheroe and let you have a fondle ;)

Cheers Shambles, my outlaws are in Little Lever so I don't visit the Bolton area unless I'm forced

Due to an old motorbike injury I need an auto so, whilst you're more than welcome to come and visit, I wouldn't be having a fondle thanks.

The offer to have a fondle is still on, but as you want an auto maybe you could just get someone else to do it :whistler:

 I drive manuals from time to time but my car is an auto as it's much easier for me, may take you up on the kind offer in time thanks and will certainly be picking brains should the i30 search gather pace.

I thin the i10 is assembled in India, and the i30 in Czech republic.

I will leave you to make your own build quality value judgements.

4 weeks of ownership approaching fast and both of us are delighted with the i10, MPG is up from a miserable 42. something when wifey picked up the car to a more reasonable 49.8, that is from the OBC though as I've yet to do a manual brim to brim check.

Build quality seems great so far, much better than many other cars we've had.

I picked up an unused space saver spare from e-bay for £41 delivered to replace the crappy tyre inflation kit that it came with.

Highly impressed and bodes well for the future  :D

Thanks for Torqueing to us about it!  :D They are struggling to get the i10 into Australia at a competitive price point due to exchange rates...  :undecided:

Cheers, wife loves it and I'm very impressed with it.  Engine is great, the spec is good, ride and build quality very good and decent  economy at 50mpg after almost 5 weeks of ownership on mixed roads  :happydance:
