As most know I replaced Cyril(SX I30 Diesel) with Alvin(CD Cruze Diesel)although still happy with my decision(won't include Sue as she left all the decision making to me ) Alvin has a few annoying habits, the one I am asking about now is something I can never remember seeing in all the cars I have ever owned(and boy I have owned a few)what is happening is the windscreen is fogging up you say what is so strange about that, but this is on the outside,it can be so annoying, has anyone else had this happen and how did you fix it

Is there wax or polish that has come in contact with the windscreen :undecided: try cleaning the window with some metho.

I'll give that a try Craig,I have always used a combination wash and wax on all my cars,Alvin is the only one I have had this issue with,Both Bruce and Cyril when we had him, they would fog up on the inside of the screen not the outside like this, the two pictures I put up are pretty tame to what it can get like, tis more annoying than a troubling issue

Rick, I tend to just put the air con on warm and on the windscreen.
Unfortunately it doesn't fix it immediately as you have to wait until the air is warm, but it does help.
I particularly had the problem when I lived in the Perth hills and it was so cold in the morning.
Where I am now tends to be more wet than cold.

Probably not what you're using is causing the problem Rick but maybe something leftover from whoever you purchased Alvin from, the wrong substances on the windscreen will collect moisture and fog up.

I think there is some anti-fog stuff that can also be added to the washer bottle as well if needed.

If you're running the A/C on screen, you are cooling the screen so much that the outside moisture is condensing on the  screen. Add some heat to the air and it should stop.

Had the same thing with the Dodge Caliber. As far as i can see it has to do with disrupted air flow over the windscreen, most probably caused by the bonnet lip or windscreen wiper position. The windscreen is colder at that point and the airstream doesn't effectivly remove the build-up of condensation. If the blower is on cool then that also can exacerbate the problem.

I think it is what Phil and Wingerdave say.  You are cooling the windscreen to below the dew point, so the moist air on the outside is condensing on the glass.  Do what Dave said and use warm air to demist (I use my wiper blades to remove the condensation).

There's a heat button for the front windscreen. (as well as the rear)
I had some success with using the heat button, but really it comes back to design.
The screen ducts A/C cool too much locally, no matter how much heat one adds.

Not forgetting, of course, that the A/C dries air as well as chills it, so setting it to warm shouldn't matter too much when clearing condensation.

It does, when the condensation is on the outside of the screen.
