I wonder why we can't have decent wagons here in Canada (or US). Seems like every american, japanese or korean auto maker come here with some wagons models and abandon them a couple of years later. Only european brands keep selling wagons, but much too expensive for me.

I bought a 2011 Elantra Touring especially because it was a wagon. I never understood the need for a hatchback, the luggage area is way too small. Maybe if you don't have kids you can use the folding seats but when I go on a camping trip with 2 kids it's not an option.

I plan to keep my car for 7 years (the lenght of the bumper to bumper warranty) and after that it will be again the quest to find a reasonably priced wagon...

You're right there's more space in the Hatch but there are a lot of people who like the compactness of the Hatch.

Incidentally, my son, who lives in Canada (Mississsauga) has a little 2 door General Motors Pontiac and he's complaining you can't get cars like that any more. (Quite apart from the dropping of the Pontiac range per se).

My wife feels the same as you she wouldn't have a hatch but we are getting her a CW (touring) in about a week... I had a hatch for 28 months which I traded on another car last august (No wagon available in 2008)

I think our new wagon will keep its value quite well because there are not a lot of inexpensive alternatives over here either..
