Hello, does anyone have experience with chiptuning their i30 ? Will the clutch and so on be able to manage it ? :victory:

Hej Jonathan
Which model have you got?
The 2012-16 GD 1.6 CRDI should be good for 160 BHP & 325 Nm. I´d imagine the Nm is kept to 325 to preserve the drivetrain in the long run..
If its a petrol you got (non-turbo), forget it...Theres no real improvement to these.
www.chiptuning.nu (http://www.chiptuning.nu) is who you wanna get it done by if your a dieselhead in dk ;-)

I got about 19kw - 25.5hp extra out of my tune on 1.6 petrol, has to be combined with full exhaust upgrade though and some intake mods, if the files weren't so restricted could do more so my next option down the track is to modify a Veloster ECU and use that as they're easier to tune.

You should go for a sharper camshaft..But on an i30?..There is SO many other cars that are way more fun to tune than such a "family-container" :-D
& a chiptuned only diesel will take you any day ;-)

Different cams is an option but that depends on restriction within the ECU, Haltec ECU would be the way to go but that would cost minimum $3500
I think I'd give a diesel a good run for it's money, I've got a lot more rpm's to play with as well as being a couple of hundred kilo's lighter, if I throw my 60mm throttle body back on that bumps up my torque considerably but I leave it off to keep the fuel mileage at a more respectable level :)

Bigger injectors or raise the fuelpressure, should all be reachable on original ECU.
I rest my case here, my input was ment for (beside ecu-tuning), unmodified cars. With a diesel you could throw in other turbo & IC & so the race could go on :goodjob:
What matters is your having fun with your mods :goodjob2:

Not possible with the ECU I'm mine, which is why I may at a later date use a Veloster ECU due to them being easier to work with.
All depends on whether I feel tempted to put anymore effort and cash into it, likely not I don't think :undecided: :goodjob2:

i`ve got a 2008 1.6 crdi 116hp & 260nm. The reason why i would chiptune it and not modify it in other ways like mounting a bigger turbo is, it`s quick to do, relatively cheap and should not harm the vehicle. its driving so well its incredible
