Hi all

Does anyone know Hyundai's claimed city/highway consumption for the 2.0ltr petrol? The UK site has info for the diesel but of course the 2.0 petrol isn't sold there and car companies only have to quote the combined cycle in Oz 

Also I remember seeing someone say they'd had the convex glass in the door mirrors changed to flat - was I imagining this? (can't find the post). We just hired a Tiida to go to Newcastle and my partner found the magnification very unsettling.

Took me about 2 weeks to get used to the curved mirror.
Hated it at first...........but now I think it's great, it gives a nice wide view.

Why not try it for a while before you decide to change it.

The fuel consumption for the i30 2.0L petrol is 7.2 L/p100klms for the manual and 7.6 for the auto.

I reckon the best you can do is trawl and see if any of the other Euro countries Hyundai sites sell the 2.0 petrol.

Failing that I would take a calculated guess from the UK technical area where you can compare the jump from the 1.4 to the 1.6, I would reckon that the jump from the 1.6 to the 2.0 would be around the same so maybe a town value of 8.5l/100km?

Why would you want flat mirror I once drove a car with a flat mirror and you saw much less than with a curved mirror, I thought all cars had curved mirror.

Going on what I can get for a split between city and highway in a 2.0L petrol:

City: 7.5-8L (Depending on how impatient I get in traffic!!)
Highway: 6.3-6.8L (Depending on speed. I found 90km/h is the best speed to go for efficiency)

I know they aren't official, but they'd be pretty close!

Look at this site as it lists the 2l petrol,

It's Hy Europe site but unfortunately it doesn't give fuel consumption.

May be a check on all tabs might reveal fuel

I've had a good look around for the urban/extra urban figures but no luck. Duckman, your figures are real-world so probably more useful.

As for the mirrors, I told my partner I'd ask but I'm hoping she'll get used to them. We'd had a trying time with the hire car, mostly to do with Sydney's excellent toll system, so maybe we weren't in the best frame of mind to assess them.

OK Peter,
I think I have the figures you are wanting. The 2.0l Auto uses 10.3LP/100klm Urban and 6.1Lp/100klm extra urban with a combined average of 7.6Lp/100klm.
I don't have the figures for the manual, probably about 0.5L better.
I got this off the sticker on the windscreen of a new one as the manufacturers are now required to show both urban and extra Urban. None of the manual models on the yard had the new sticker, hence I only know the Auto's.

Freeway at 110km/h i average 5.8-6.4. As soon as the roads goes up so does the Lper100 straight away.
Around town i average 8.2 but thats pretty heavy footed. VVT dont kick in till around 4500rpm.

I saw one of the new labels on a Honda City yesterday - nice little car with a lot of room inside, not quite as fully optioned as the i30 though.

if you change the mirror glass to flat instead of curved ,wont you loose your heated mirrors
