I think they need to increase the driver age to 25.

People using mobiles while driving, whether they are talking texting what have you,is one of my biggest hates,I just want to jump outta my truck when I get to the lights, run up grab their phones and smash em on the ground and then jump on them, but I think I would soon get locked up for doing so.

Funnily enough, while going to the wharf this afternoon,in peak hour, just out of curiosity, while pulling away from the lights each time,I would have a quick glance in the first six or so cars that went by and each time,5 out of the six were doing something with their mobiles.

A few weeks ago,I actually had someone run into the side of the tri axle trailer I was towing,I couldn't believe it,they hit the tyres,so was bugger all damage to the trailer other than some scuffed side walls and the woman just took off,I couldn't catch her,but did get her number plate and reported it,still awaiting to find out what has happened, police did in fact contact work and say they found the car and the driver.

Five or so years ago,had a young lady run into the back of my truck, same thing on her phone didn't see me indicate to turn or seen me stop, luckily that time, there was in fact a police car two cars behind her, shenot onoly got a stuffed car but she also got a $500 fine  :goodjob2: :goodjob: like hoons have their cars impounded for 28 days, time they start doing it with mobiles.

I am in favour of impounding, it's a great way to get these idiots off the road, inconveniences them immensely and costs money and demerits as well, regardless of ownership, too. Let partner go home and explain where the car is for 28 days and why. Mobile phone interference would drop considerably, domestics would increase though.

There must be a simple mechanism that the car manufacturers and phone makers can implement that only allows the phone to for the purpose of answering/receiving calls through the vehicles blue tooth, all other functionality is disabled. No blue tooth no phone.

Though I dare say there would be an app to disable this in about 3.2 seconds.

We'd have eye tracking tech warning us when we're not watching the road. The reason we don't already is because we're moving to driverless cars and it won't matter. :victory:

If we end up with true driver less cars, what kind of road accidents will we have in the future

Given the increase in trips back to the dealer with the new technology we have now....Imagine what driver less cars would do?

The big picture view may be that after the teething problems we no longer have to bear accidents, speeding fines, licences, insurance and registration, perhaps not even ownership.

No wonder they want to charge by the KM.   Having used public transport, I would suggest there will always be a need for private ownership......They will never let go of registration, though one would think insurance costs would fall...

We can't afford to not have accidents, otherwise where else are we gonna get our donor body parts from?  :whistler:
