Vauxhall resurrects popular small car 35 years after the original - but it will be built in Korea not Britai

It is a five-door replacement for the Agila model which will be powered by a specially-developed 1.0-litre engine and cost around £7,000.

How different can two cars be? Nothing but the name is the same.

The original rust-bucket had a bit of character. :)

We had a Holden Viva in Oz from 2005 to 2009. It was based on the Daewoo Lacetti.

As in Daewoo Lacetti was the base onto which they stuck a Holden badge.

Awful car, gives Korean manufacturing a bad name.

Just as well we have Hyundai and Kia to counterbalance.

That's it exactly. I see the UK "version" will also be Korean so I guess it also will be a rebadged Daewoo.

BTW, I drove a couple of those Daewoo Vivas and they seemed OK. But only shortish visits.
What was wrong with them (apart from being Daewoo?).

Oh. I see. You meant Daewoo is an awful car.

When I looked at one it felt like a Datsun 120Y or 1980s Hyundai.

No wonder Hyundai will be #2 in the Australian market next year and Holden and Ford down the list.

The holden viva had 22 storage compartments.
That was what all the ads were driving home at the time. No mention about it's performance or handling etc. Said volumes about the car really. ..

Mate of mine had one of those from new.
Still had it the last I heard.
It was a rocket ship in motorkhanas and lap dashes.
Of course it WAS a bit modified.

It put me in bed for a week with a bad back once.
He asked me to pick up a diff for him from a wreckers near me. I did - literally lifted it to put it in my station wagon - alone. It was complete - drum to drum. I felt all the tendons go in my back as I got it waist high and just stepped back and let it go.
Too late. I've had a bad back from time to time over the years. That didn't help.
