Title: Something Different from Bike Rides and Walks
Post by: Surferdude on July 13, 2018, 07:17:13
Finally got around to taking out my kayak for a paddle.

We are near the Pumicestone Passage which separates Bribie Island from the mainland is a beautiful waterway, home to Dugong, Black Swans, Stingrays and the odd visiting dolphin.

A few pics from Bribie Island where the local Lions Club has developed a picnic area. From there it's only about 30 metres to the beach side.

The picnic area. How the hell did they get all the concrete over there?

Nice pic's Trev :goodjob2: I quite enjoy kayaking though never got around to buying one of my own, did a two day one night kayaking tour in Kalbarri years ago and on numerous visits to Malaysia I've done three of their big rivers with some medium level rapids included, one river trip just out of Ipoh had me a little worried with some big croc's hanging around

Top place. In the late 1960s, I took a break from winter in Wellington, NZ and came to Oz with some mates. We bought an old ute in Sydney and headed North. One night we crossed an old bridge onto Bribie and started to look for somewhere to camp.
After getting stuck in sand we decided a few coldies were in order, as you do.
The next morning was as warm as a NZ summer and this is the view that met us, except that there were also pods of dolphins surfing in and out of the beach break in front of us.

That's when I decided to live in Queensland.  :sweating:
