2009 1.6 petrol. Ive seen a few posts about replacing the clutch damper thingy and also posts about removing it and just using a sump plug, but was there a definitive answer to what is best?

New clutch, it's usually a damaged release bearing and/or damage to pressure plate fingers, people may argue otherwise but that's my opinion.
Mine was crunching gears occasionally, I changed the gearbox oil for a 75w90 and it's a lot smoother now but the clutch bite point is still pretty low about an inch off the floor, I'll leave it till a new clutch goes in.

Yeah im guessing a new clutch is the best route. I was wanting a short term fix but may have to bite the bullet. I will do the work myself as there's a few videos on line of how to do it and it looks pretty straight forward

Is there a mild uprated clutch to use? My old Renaultsport megane R26 could use a diesel clutch as a mild upgrade so was wondering if theres something like this for the FD?
