Hi  and  :welcum:

My first i30 had similar alloys to those and they pitted under warranty. When I took the car for replacement inserts they simply unscrewed them from the inside, having removed each wheel. So my guess is they aren't glued but screwed.

Hi all,

Has anyone removed the plastic chrome inserts from these wheels? I really don't like the look of them. I think they are glued on but not sure.

Thank you

No update from me. There's a service coming up in 2 months so I might just leave it for then, hopefully the car doesn't have any lasting impact from this..

:crazy1: latest update on my woes.
30 March, Car is not going again. Have been using it daily since the last NRMA visit 12 days ago.
Went to garage and it didn't start locking/unlocking, so tried the the door handle button and it unlocked normally for a change. so I thought it had decided to behave, but instead of starting up, all dashboard lights started flashing. I was able to lock it via the door button. and retried unlocking again and trying to start it up. No luck and then said key fob not recognised.. Now it seems to be dead again aargh.  :blubber:

Not due at Suttons till Thursday morning. Don’t want to call NRMA again for now. I'll call NRMA wed afternoon and if they can get it running, I'll take it straight to Suttons so they have it for early Thursday morning.
I only hope they can fix the problem or I may be looking for a new car (hope not). If I’m lucky it may only be the driver’s side door lock causing all the problems.
Meanwhile I will at least get some exercise as have to walk to a couple of appointments that I would normally drive to. (Have to look on the bright side)
Happy Easter, hope it's better for everyone else.

DIESEL / Closing bonnet set of Parker lights.

Gday. I’ve had an issue with battery going flat. I had it on charge today and when I unhooked the charger I noticed when I shut the bonnet the parking lights flashed like when you lock your car. Could this be something that’s draining the battery? Also I noticed that when I open the door the screen on the dash doesn’t always light up. Any help would be great thanks.

Hello Brother.
I'd be very interested to hear about how you write away the EGR code, or altogether turn off or deactivate the EGR. I know people have strong opinions in regards to it being a good thing or a bad thing, and I respect each person's views and reasons.
I have a 2008 i30 D4FB here.
I'd like to turn EGR off, remove the hardware and link the coolant hoses.
I see you've mentioned it a few times, could you share how you managed to do it?
I was going to place a switch in line with the AC clutch so that the ECU would see AC on and leave EGR closed, and when I wanted to actually use the AC, use the switch.
Unsure if it would work or not, or cause other flow on effects, was just a thought, after reading forums for two weeks.
You're the only individual I have seen that has actually delved into ECU territory to address it. Any feedback or tips/hints would be greatly appreciated, but I understand that you may wish to keep it to yourself.
Anyone else welcome to add their successes too.

Cheers from New Zealand.

Hi  and a big  :welly3:

Hi,
For those who've clipped the wing mirror assembly and caused the central mechanism with the ball joint to break off and the mirror to fall out, I fixed mine without needing to replace the whole thing. It happened to mine a few years back so a bit hazy with the details. But I just drilled a hole through the centre-piece ball joint and inserted a screw with a castle nut to hold it back together. It's probably stronger than the original now. Just a suggestion for future reference to those who are a bit handy and want to give it a go and save a few quid.
Cheers
