DIESEL / 2011 crdi dpf pressure differential sensor?
« Last post by AaronR 1 hour ago »
Hi, attempting to clean my dpf with an aerosol cleaner with a straw, my temperature sensor is welded on and the pressure sensor looks like a much easier way to clean. Just de-attach pipe, stick straw up and clean. But I can’t for the life of me locate where the sensor is. Any hints or tips appreciated!

PETROL / Heat shield loose
« Last post by MarkAndyJ 5 hours ago »
Hi all,

Recently bought a second hand I30 FD. I've noticed there is a rasping noise from the front of the car when accelerating, which seems to be loudest in 2nd and 3rd gear around 20-30mph.

It stops immediately when I take my foot off the accelerator, so I'm certain it's not wheel bearings. It sounds more like an exhaust blowing but the car had an MOT a few weeks ago with no issues identified.

I have noticed the exhaust manifold heat shield has some play in it - all the fixing bolts are tight  however there is a metal netting around each fixing hole and the whole shield can easily be moved a few mm.

I wanted to ask if these were supposed to be fixed firm, as if so this may be the source of the noise.

@Bob.W My badge is exactly the same and I bought the car like that second hand. I've had the car for 3 years and the radar issue has only cropped up in the last couple of months, so I don't know for sure if that would be the issue.

I reset the computer after I removed my front bumper and I still got the AEB warning message, so that may be proof that it is not the badge. I'm no mechanic though, so I could be totally off track here.

Thank you, @BrendanP, that will be very much appreciated. I have read that there should be absolutely no play laterally (up/down or side to side) but in and out of the joint shoukld have movement. I've also read that a worn inner CV causes vibration/wobbling whilst a worn outer CV causes clicking sounds. Which is what has directed men to a possibly worn inner joint.

I've had the wheels balanced, which didn't change anything, but haven't had tracking checked yet. Suspension bushes and linkages all seem OK.

GENERAL / Re: HELP: Check AEB System error light, multiple others also

y mechanic is crazy busy, so he hasn't been able to look as yet. He mentioned that a friend (UK Hyundai mechanic) said badges can start to 'peel' and cause the radar to play up.
Hmmmmmm - funny you say this. My PD's front badge, behind which the front radar module sits has something of a 'cobweb' like cracking to it. Its made of plastic/acrylic and has a few minor stone chips in it.  I wonder if this is the issue?

If so it's absolutely beyond pathetic - that Hyundai hasn't recalled all vehicles as what a preposterous situation - ABS, ESC, cruise control, etc all shut down due to a cheaparse branding badge thats cracked due to crappy materials.  I sincerely hope it's something a tad more worthy as I'd be infurated if so.

GENERAL / Window weather strips
« Last post by CRC April 30, 2024, 04:16:16 »
Looking for recommendations for a supplier (to Australia) of a set of Window Weather Strips for a 2009 1.6FD Diesel

Alternatively, has anyone simply replaced the rubber strip, and if so can you please provide details. Rubber specs and supplier please.

When I get a chance I'll try and wiggle the shaft on my car. I'm not sure if that would contribute to the car wobbling about as I don't think the driveshaft acts to anchor the wheel in position, I think it can move in and out to accommodate the suspension travel and steering movement. Have you checked things like the track rods ends and ball-joints for slack movement? Also whether the tracking is correct.
