Hi all
Just some quick, low quality pix of my i30. The good camera has been packed away for holidays but had to give you a quick viewing before going away. Enjoy

Looking great there Brian. I wish mine had a rear spoiler - really sets it off. And the alloys are mint
-
Thanks for the pix Bumpkin... We have a Vivid blue one with stripes somewhere else on the site (think it was from an advert) Your wheels are the same brand (MS design I think) as i30manUK and Hemmi have on their sports models... Nice..
-
Faaantastic 8-)
The stripes looks good on vivid blue.
-
Stripes would look good on our moonlight blue as well but if I suggested it the "one who must be obeyed" would say...
"how old do you think you are...."
-
... I was wrong....
I just mentioned it in passing and the missus said ... I quote...
"that would look sh.t... your not having em...."
-
We've got white stripes on ouri30 and the wife hasn't even noticed. :P
Bob
-
Bob,
How can your wife not notice white GT stripes on your i30 :!:
-
EymaTeapot,
Well, you see, ouri30 is white.
Bob
-
Ok Bob,
You got me
-
Nice stripes but parked on double yellow lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hi all
Thankx for the comments!!
I would probably not have picked the stripes but at that price who could argue.
It was actually my wife who first saw it, our Hyundai dealer shares premises with Ford and she simply said "ooh there is one with stripes over there". My response was it is probably a Fiesta ST (which I did not want) as you could only see the roof from where we were but then we got closer and the rest is history.
There seem to be two camps with stripes, the love 'ems and the hate 'ems, nobody in the middle ready for conversion.
Yes I know double yellows, that is actually a dead-end side street beside my daughters nursery where all the parents drop off. In effect by getting out of the vehicle it is parked but it really is only for offloading officer, my wife will be back in a minute!
Mind you look closely, they are not actually complete therefore they have no authority, in order for the offence to be true both lines must be complete with no missing sections.
Cheers
Brian

Are you Mr Loophole in disgiuse?
(For non UK members, Mr Loophole is a celeb lawyer who for a generous fee will argue in court the failings of our wonderful legal system and is 99.9% certain of getting the charges dropped).
-
Hi Brian - and welcome! Sorry to say I'm in the 'nice car - shame about the stripes' brigade, because I'm too old for them!
-
Hi eye30 et al
No, not Mr Loophole just a bit of sarcastic humour more aimed at the fact that despite paying the same amount of VED as my colleagues further South we have the most abysmal pot-holed, terribly maintained road network you would ever have the discomfort to drive upon. Fortunately the i30 even with the big alloys does a pretty good job of soaking up the ruts!!
Having just spent a week touring this beautiful country I have to say I just luuurve the auto-wipers and the looks from bystanders when you go past. Of particular interest was the "WTF" looks from the Corsa/Saxo "doodz" who apparently inhabit every settlement of more than 5 houses in the UK.
I met another i30 when I got back to Aberdeen tonight and the reaction of him and his passenger was identical to my wife and I, a sort of "look someone else HAS got one" coupled with excitement and then that all knowing acknowledgement of "we understand something that few others have cottoned onto yet".
Mind you I met loads of Ceeds on my travels so the idea and word is kind of travelling.
Cheers
Brian

Shambles we need to go to Aberdeen pronto so we can say "we've seen another i30"

Where I live you sometime think the driver in front is drunk. BUT no just another swerve to miss another pot hole.
-
Guys
I saw another one today at the local supermarket, so far I have seen a red 1.4 petrol, and 2 grey CRD's up here (plus mine of course!)
Cheers
Brian
-
Hi Bumpkin,
Please give out some cards or flyers if you get a chance...
-
hey bumpkin, I just realized you're from Scotland, that means your i30 is in the right colors
then I remembered the football match, to bad we lost
Cheers
-
Hi Hemmi
Given the press coverage over here of the footie this week, once again there is no point in any other nation caring about the WC qualifiers since apparently Theo Walcott is going to win the entire championship on his own!!!
Cheers
Brian
-
Bumped from Hemmis i30, just cos I need the coverage
Yup mine still has the fake exhausts
Aren't you gonna do something about that
I just cant drive a car with fake exhaust, it's so silly, and everybody laughing
I also had a problem with my right rear light, the smoke was coming under the car and through the rear bumper and on the light, I dont have that problem anymore :)
Hmmm
Nobody here has noticed they are fake to be honest with you, the only comments I have had go something like
"Coooooool, it has shaped pipes like the new Civic!!"
I just smile and agree
As long as that continues no need to spend my hard earned in these times of trouble I reckon
Hold on....why am I writing this in Hemmi's i30   Time for a copy and bump to bumpkins i30 I reckon
-
Hi Bumpkin,
Please give out some cards or flyers if you get a chance... <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8-)" title="Cool" />
Stuck a flyer under the wiper of a 2.0CRDi Premium (hrrmphh it has cruise control, more buttons than mine ) at the supermarket on Sunday, I wonder if they have lurked, looked, contemplated joining
-
Nice car, except white strips :)
-
Thanks......................I think :)
-
Nice car, except white strips :)
I like them
-
no offence but I think it looks good only on Cobra or Mustang.
But anyway the car is great

Noted that there was a discussion about cleaning in Hemmi's i30 and thought I would update mine to show that I follow pretty much the same method as Hemmi for mine using the Autoglym products which are a bit cheaper than Meguiars for those on a budget.
Wet rinse.
Wash with microfibre finger sponge and Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner from top to bottom leaving bodykit and wheels to last.
Clean wheels with Autoglym alloy cleaner and alloy spoke brush.
Rinse.
Dry with chamois and dry microfibre*.
Polish with Autoglym Super Resin Polish and two microfibre cloths.
Clean windows, mirrors and head/tail lights with Autoglym Glass Cleaner and normal lint cloth (on), microfibre cloth (off).
Re-polish bodywork with Autoglym High Gloss Protection and two microfibre cloths.
Detail all black plastics with Autoglym Bumper Restore.
Apply Turtle Wax Tyre Gloss Protection to tyres.
Apply Alloy Wheel Clean and Protect (disposable wipes I picked up in Aldi)
Vacuum interior carpets and mats and like Hemmi use a damp microfibre (use the one marked *) for the cabin plastics.
Autoglym Leather Conditioner for the leather.
I usually take about 5 hours for that and get great results also.
-
The car is great
-
We like our cars clean, don't we :D
-

I have to admit to being a bit anal about the car, living in a coastal town carries the dreaded seagull sh1t and you'll often find me cursing into the sky as I dig out my special sh1t removing cloth between washes

Guys, the technical term is "bird lime" :P
Honestly... "bird lime", so it says on my SupaGard Bird Lime wash kit.
-
Hmmmmm
Bull-lime
-
I think he's telling the truth
-
I thought he was, I just converted it to show that some marketing dude decided it needed a new name which was ethically pleasing for the mass market

.. alternatively, for "bull lime" removal ...

Great pics and scenery Brian :D
-
Looking good bumpers me old mate.
I wonder why they call it stonehaven
(PS you blanked your plate out but left it visible in other pics )
-
:-[oops, mind you the one without the blank plate needs a fair bit of scrutiny to work it out
More info from Stoney (as it's called locally) available at Wiki (and it's correct!). They even have a picture just like mine.

Just a quick shot after using the Meguiars NXT Speed Detail to show the beading this stuff gives with a very quick 15 minute wipe after washing yesterday. As usual we have one dry day followed by a very wet one

Rains here about once every three months.. (ish)
That seems to do the job for me !
Though I must admit, yours and Hemmi's do look nice.

Must add for our UK and Europe members................
I bought a product in Lidl which is a nano-screen coating and it is brilliant, the rain drops just bead on contact and at speed run up the windscreen very quickly. It only cost me £4.99 and I have only applied once (a month ago) yet it is still working. By that information I would guess that there is enough product in the bottle for a good two years plus  :D

So does that mean you don't need to use your wipers Brian? They would wipe it off wouldn't they?
-
I leave my wipers on AUTO and with this product they don't wipe as often, however when they do wipe it is really smooth 8)
-
sounds like a product called rain-x ive used hear in oz before. excellent on helmet visors.
-
Damn.. beat me to the draw.. was going to ask if it was the same as rain-x..

THANKS Blue :D :D
-
I've been using rain-x on my old car for about 10 years. I'm nearly at the bottom of my second bottle. On the motorway at 65+mph in moderate to very heavy rain I rarely need to used my wipers. 2 weeks ago I was in a downpoor and could clearly see more than the other people on "fast wipe" in the lanes around me.
However, as anyone who will have used such products there is a downside. If the rain is really light you get a kind of misty fog of ultra-tiny rain droplets. Morning dew also does this.
I usually coat it at the begining of winter, and again half way though.
-
Don't know whether to try rain-x or not... :P

Whats light rain :P
Living in the UK it is hard to imagine a day without having to give the screen a wipe before moving off, so the dew droplets you speak about don't bother me!
Dazz, I highly recommend giving it a try, I am really impressed with the one I bought and I still have only applied it once.

Oh I dunno. I could fit those stripes on Fergie.

Love the stripes, but my didn't let to have these

Nice pictures, it looks great :)
I also love the stripes, but it must be, as mentioned in blue or red color, maybe also black.. And definitely the alloys size as yours..
How did you get out the car and not step in the snow? From our point of view (side of driving), there wouldn't be any problem, but...
-
Great pics and a great looking car! :)

Grrrrrrr
Just back from getting the 2nd year service done and the idiot mechanic managed to reverse a car with parking sensors into a tool trolley scratching the back bumper in two places, car going back next week for a visit to the bodyshop
In fairness to them, they phoned me when it happened and knocked another 5% off my 10% discount.
-
sorry to hear that m8, hope it will be good as new
-
All they need to ensure is a bit of care and attention. Sadly, there's too little of that around these days
-
Was the driver a bit mutton deaf
-
Sorry to hear that... :'(
-
Not good m8 :'(
