Title: Lighting problems!!! Not happy Jan
Post by: Floor-it on January 24, 2014, 10:34:55
Hi all

I've had my i30 for just over a month. A few weeks ago I realised that the parking lights (second option for lights) were always on when I was driving, even when I had the light nob on off, anyway thought it was nothing until they decided to not switch off and drain the battery one night which required road side assist to come and jump start the car. I took the car to its one month service which happened to be two days after that event, the guy told me that it was a possible, but not definite wiring problem and it would need to be rebooked as it would take a better part of a day to fix/investigate. I rebooked for next Friday, however, today whilst out the problem worsened with the car randomly returning the inside and outside lights on once I turned the car off, I tried turning on and off again the car which worked for 3 minutes but then the lights turned back on again. At this point I had, had enough and called hyundai.  They were nice and told me to bring it in straight away and they have now given me a courtesy car until they fix this issue. My first experience with a hyundai i30 hasn't been the best as it brought me to the point of fear of going out with my car as I worried about returning to a car with a dead battery.  VENT OVER

Has anyone else had this sort of problem with their light system?

Haven't heard anything like that before, certainly understand your frustration.

Please let us know what was wrong when you get it back...

Hi all

Just and update:

Car is still with hyundai, they thought it was either the indicator toggle that was faulty or the smart junction box, after further testing they found it was the indicator toggle. They have ordered the new part and are just waiting for it to be delivered. Hopefully I should have my car back by today or tomorrow at the latest. Thank god it was just a minor problem and not one with the whole internal wiring system.
