Hi all.
Here is a little mod.
Easy and cheap.

Neat! :) I did the same thing one week after getting mine. Nothing like having 168 Watts of lights (28WX6) to warn those behind you that you're slowing down, although it won't help people like the one below:

Cheers!

Great mod! :)

Not much point just showing off with before & after pics
You need to explain what you've done; fittings changes, electrics etc
Does look good tho

As far as I know all i30 brake lights work with the car lights on

Hi.
First of all, my big, big problem is to write in English! And “one image is better than thousand words”.
OK, trying to explain.
This is an i30CW (Cross Wagon, Van, Touring, whatever. It's not the hatch).
Those lamps have two filaments. Only the presence lights come connected from factory.
Why? Do you know?! I don't! But they come with the cables!
Only needed 4 connectors, two pieces of cable (each with about 10 cm), about half an hour and a little of caution.
I had three brake lights. Now, I have seven!
Cheers,
carib

Do you mean now you have five lights? Or did you wire the tail lights upto the brake lights too?
-
On my hatch the top longer red lights are already wired as the main lights and brake lights. The lower red lights are the fog lights.
Presumably carib doesnt have fog lights, so they just wired those up as brake lights.
-
Same here in North America, the lights used in Europe for fog lights are the main brake lights here, ald the upper ones are only used as markers even though they are the two-filament type. I just used a length of wire to connect the 2nd filament wires of the upper lights to the one in the bottom.

Yup looks like a different configuration. My UK "top portion" shares the brake & tail light, whereas carib seems to have something else...

"3" is obviously the original brake light for carib & Dr.P but why are there two separate bulbs in the "1" and "2"? Do both the uppers (1 & 2) illuminate when used as parkers?

Hi.
Shambles, not five, but SEVEN lamps! (Better, six lamps and the top led!)

Lorian, I have fog lights! They are not visible in the pictures. They are in the bottom of the bumper.

One more explanation.
My first picture shows only the original stop brakes and the presence lights (two in each side) are off!
In the second picture I have now the original stop lights more two lamps on each side. The dual presence/stop lights.
In my pictures, the presence lights are allways off.

Do both the uppers (1 & 2) illuminate when used as parkers?
Yep

Yep
That explains a lot :D cheers
So both those [upper] parking lights on each side are dual-filament types but one filament wasn't connected to anything? Cool
Hope you guys checked your fuse rating for the braking system ;)

That's a good point.
Thanks for the advise.
I didn't!
But, until now, so far, so good!

Do not cut the red wire, just remove insulator. Twist them together firmly.

Final part. Joint the red wire to the original brake light. Just make a 2~3mm

When it's done do a test by depressing the brake pedal. You should be
able to see all 3 blub lights up.
