My cousin who lives in a small village in Cornwall tells me they had a "near" riot there last evening.

The village bakers ran out of pasties and a disappointed old lady stamped her foot in temper.

Was his name Tommy, the baker, Cooper by chance?

If you car is trashed during civil disturbance (riot) I believe the insurance is void..... worrying, or wot

Just checked my policy.

In the General exceptions:

We will not pay in the event of:

...... rebellion..........
riot or civil unrest that happens outside England, Scotland, Wales, IOM or CI.

Definition of rebellion states:
Rebellion, uprising or insurrection, is a refusal of obedience or order. It may, therefore, be seen as encompassing a range of behaviors aimed at destroying or replacing an established authority such as a government or a head of state.

So they could use this to refuse claims.

I can see riot or civil unrest being changed by the insurance companies to include England, Scotland, Wales, IOM or CI.

Saying that I'm keping out of the troubled areas to save having to test the Insurance company's interpretation.....

Cant think of a Martin with a Pommy accent? There are half a Million People in Tassie  :whistler:

But I'll have a listen (I know more people than most do down here)  :goodjob2:

They have a catch Up and can listen to broadcasted programmes.
I'll have a listen and if I i/d it I'll post time so you can listen

He still has his scouce/Liverpool accent so he should be recogniseable.

You never know he may be you neighbour/customer!

Found it

His name is Martin and the setting is 2 hours 5 minutes 59 seconds (2:05:59 to 2:08:54)

Thanks Lester .. I had a listen (I didn't find his accent very strong!) I know lots of Martins (It is even my middle name ) One of them is Welsh (with a strong accent) but this guy wasn't familiar..

We get a lot more overseas news than he suggested .. (Don't know what TV channel he watches)

My policy says the same, I am friends with a lady who works for one of the larger insurance companies in the UK (guaranteed to maked a crisis out of a drama ! :whistler: ) and she sent me this link stating that UK companies are not going to try and get out of it.....

Expected people to be covered otherwise they would have a riot on their hands..  :blubber:

I read that people without cover may receive some form of compo from the government so why should the people who do the right thing have to sub them.

I feel sorry for them but it was their choice not to insure.
