The workshop manual text only describes removing the WHOLE console, not just the transmission gate.

In the diagram, item (4) will just prize out. But its very easy to mark the edges if not careful

It is recommended in the manual that tape be applied to all surfaces when prying and also the blade of your prying object. Look like you pry from the rear and there are two hinge type attachments at the front.
