Title: Rear demister causing radio interference. 2018 PD i30
Post by: mrp on February 09, 2022, 17:24:07
Unfortunately, discovered another issue with my PD 2018 i30 crdi DCT estate.

When I turn on the rear de-mister button on the dashboard it causes my radio to cut out for a short while as if it's lost signal. Happens about 70% of the time Everything else carries on and works as normal.

Anybody else have similar issues or know how to fix it ?

Thanks

Very much what happened to the Kandahar air traffic control tower when I'd roll in with my armoured vehicle.
The CIED jammer I had on board was cutting out radio comms with coalition aircraft. So was every other jammer moving on and off base.
Fortunately I was the Coalition's Chief ECM Ops and was the qualified Engineer who advised them to investigate their antenna cabling for corrosion.
For the i30, not so much corrosion as a loose connection somewhere.

Not sure if antenna is powered and maybe rear screen activation is causing a voltage drop somehow. Check wiring and earth connections.
