i30 Front Strut Bar *installed*

Hi guys, I've got my strut bar

Here are some pics during installation

(pics are scaled down, want the full resolution? pm me)

The package

Send via Korea post, my name and adress on the right

Strut bar itself, one side was already mounted

There were 2 bolts and only one nut!! wich was fitted on the already mounted side

Luckily I had spare nuts in my garage!

Unscrewed one nut with a nr. 14, don't know what you guys use for numbering

All nuts unscrewed

Fitted one side with no problems. Make sure you clean the area!

Nuts screwed back. Make sure to tighten them hard!

Do the same for the other side. I had a problem there.

Just force it a little bit and it will fit nicely

Place the metal bar and put the bolt through the hole and tighten!

Finished! (Before and after)

Make sure everything is tight! Drive a couple miles/km then check if everything is ok

The main reason is that I just like it

Makes it more sporty

And maybe a bit for the better performance in hard cornering

It can make a small (but noticeable) difference in cars that have their strut towers located away from the firewall, but the i30's strut towers are near enough attached to the firewall, so I doubt that the front strut bar would make any noticeable difference to handling. A rear strut bar may make a noticeable difference, though.

Like I said, Just to make it more sportier.

A rear strut bar ... intresting. If there are ones for the i30 I probably would get one

There are some pics of some koreans with rear struts. However they all came through the boot/storage area and took a fair wack of space out of it.

I saw it too ... I'll never get my bike in the car with one

Is it possible to get one that can easily be removed? Or is that not reconmended?

Well, I didn't notice any diffrence today because it was much fog and I couldn't drive fast. But sometimes I did got a feeling that the car was more solid. Tomorow, when the sunshine comes through, I'll put my car in a test on a closed road

Dazz ... you have no idea what I've already done with my car ...
An small example: a burnout, Yes I tried. With esp => little wheel spin, without esp => lots of wheel spin 8)

It's probably gonna take a while because its freezing and the roads are slippery

I may be a loose canon, but I think before I do it. If I know something could go wrong, I just not gonna do it. I don't wanna die because of my stupidity. But I'm young and I do crazy things, you live only ones mate

Yeah that makes sense. Funny tho that the wife's Tucson has a factory strut brace and it too has the strut towers very close to the firewall. I guess offroading can flex the strut towers a lot more.

i live in Singapore and have recently installed a strut bar and it does make a difference when taking corners... especially hard corners where the front steering is very positive.. i installed mine for only $80 singapore dollars..

That bar doesn't convince me! :|
It seems to be too thin on the bolt section, both on the towers and on the part that screws on the bar!

A good bar shouldn't/doesn't have "moving parts"...

Hi guys,

I'm no expert but when I had my SSS Nissan Pulsar I broke the stock strut bar. Granted I was driving too fast with lots of sound equipment in the back (I was a wannabe rock star back then). I replaced it with the thickest aftermarket one my mechanic mate could find and I noticed a slight handling improvement. The car handled like a go cart already but driving up to Springbrook (mountains on the Gold Coast), my friends in there WRX's and Evo's struggled to keep up. Might have been that they are crap drivers, but still, I think it is a decent mod for the price.
