hey everyone,
my name is Hen and I'm from Israel
I have an I30 1.6L Supreme w\ Automatic transmission
got it about a month and a week ago from the dealership
since the car was in my hands from no vibration (according to my big brother) to vibrations that are a little bit stronger then it used to be after a while
we have a concern on the effect it might cause to the car in the future
my brother had this thing checked out in the garage and they told him its a known issue from production or something similar
(i'm not sure if it's exactly what they said, i'll ask my brother tomorrow and write it down)
I'd like to know if this thing is okay? should I be concern for whats coming ahead?
did it happen to you and if so, what can I do about it?

thank you  8)

Hi Hen.

Just looking at the Israeli Hyundai website it looks like all your models (Inspire, Premium, Supreme) are petrol models so not like our CRDi (which is not gasoline but diesel).

When does the vibration happen? Is it when you are accellerating, and what does it feel like. Does it feel like a "wobble" through the tyres and steering wheel or is it the whole body of your car that vibrates?

Have you any friends who can let you drive their i30 to see if they have the same problem?

yes, it's a petrol model
it happens while the car is not moving when it's on D and my brother felt it while on P
thw whole car is vibrating (you hold the wheel and feel it better)
I have to mention that when the A\C is off the car is vibrating less but stil vibrates also when you put it on N

I asked a friend with I30 about it and his car doesn't vibrate

thanks for helping! :)

Doesn't sound right AT ALL

... checked out in the garage and they told him its a known issue from production or something similar...

Ask them what this "known issue" is, and when are they going to fix it. Ask them to check the engine mounting bolts

its not idleing (sp) too low is it... sounds like thats the problem as when you turn the aircon on it puts more load on the motor... although the air con compensates by increasing the idle RPM

i didn't notice any increase in RPM...
and my brother told that the mechanic told him that's the car, he showed him a car with 20K Km and it was vibrating 5 times than ours

Well unless Hyundai Israel add something to make a vibration, this does not sound correct, I have a 2 year old vibration free 1.6 petrol and if it started vibrating it would be back to the dealer pronto and I would not accept the "they all do that mate" excuse.

it's now more than slightly...
tuesday morning I'm in the dealership and I won't take "it happens" for an answer!!
hopefully I still be a member of this club here but with a 100% working vibration free car :)
I really love the I30 and it's a shame that this thing happend to me or to anyone with a new car...

Good luck mate, we're all behind you :)

Your dealership should understand that you, as a buyer, are not happy that the car feels wrong. You don't have to endure (put up with) a new car that doesn't feel right, even if other cars that they have do the same thing.

If they give you the same spiel agin refer them to this site (and this thread in particular)

You can say you have referred the problem to a "panel of experts  from all over the world

Hi Nesher, good luck with your car.
what is the idle speed at? like what rpm show on the tach @ idle? also does it idle with all 4 cylinders? I know of one Jap car maker thats 1.3 4 cylinder shuts down cylinders @ idle speed to cut down polution and improve economy. and they were making them like that 15 years back. my friend thought the car had a problem. but it was in the design. it got really good economy.
ps i have a Harley Davidson that vibrates a lot at idle too
Cheers

it's around 700 RPM at idle.. with or without the a\c
about the cylinders, i'm not sure how to check that and since the car was in their shop twice i guess it's not the problem
if i had a harley that doesn't vibrate i'd go to the factory my self ;)
thanks :)

btw, they pushed the meeting to thursday, we'll see how it goes.. i'll you all know ^_^

Hi Hen,
Accept no excuses at that meeting.
Take some video recordings which indicates the issue and tell them that you will upload them on YouTube, so you can find a solution from others. It works 99%

I haven't got a petrol to compare with but isn't 700rpm idle a bit low?

Is yours a 1.4 or 1.6? Manual or auto?

so I went to see the regional manager, he drove the car (and it's was slightly vibrating during his test)
he said that the car is fine and there is nothing to worry about
I of course mentioned that this phenomena is not familiar across the world and even people in Israel don't have that problem.. (still got the same answer, it's normal even in a new car)
he will consult the manufacture to see how to improve the car vibrations

anyways, still have the car (returning it will not be easy if at all possible and quite frankly I prefer having the car but fixed\new)

yesterday, before the meeting when my friend fueled up his car i thought it may be the reason I'm having this problem
me and my brother fill it up in the same place (funny enough near the Hyundai dealership)
cause it's cheaper... maybe it's cheaper cause it's not as high quality as needed for the car..
so I'll check it out :)

thank you guys for all the help and support! we will keep trying to fix this situation any updates will be given if needed
Cheers and have a great week ;)

Thanks for the update, Nesher :)

In our country "the customer is always right". Sounds like that's not the case in Israel :(

no problem, i think it's important not just for me!
and sadly it's not the case here... if the law in my country was more consumer friendly I'd be having less problems ;)
