I have a 2012 GD 1.4 petrol.

When I put into reverse I get 3 short beeps and then silence.

The picture on the dash shows the warning lines in the middle of the rear of the car and these remain once the beeps stop.

Checking the sensors by putting hand up to each, ignition on and car in reverse, there is warning noise from 3 but not all 4.

The one not beeping, standing looking to front of car is the right centre.
So I presume this is the faulty one.

Looking under the car at the back of the bumper there is no open access.

I take it the bumper will have to be removed to get access to check the wiring and sensors.

Is this correct or is there an easier option.

Three double beeps confirms the faulty sensor.

Fairly sure that bumper will need to come off.

Not sure my single 3 beeps falls into any of those in the chart above.

The beeps are beep, beep, beep..... No noticable gap as indicated in the chart.

If I'm reading it correctly the 3 beeps should happen 3 times.

i.e 3 beeps silence/gap then 3 beeps then silence/gap then 3 final beeps.

Am I reading the chart correctly?

Thought that was an option I should try.

Will do tomorrow now as it is chucking it down here and don't fancy getting wet......

Before the battery I did wonder if I removed the fuse it may reset the sensors but looking in the handbook and on the fuse lid, a fuse for the sensors isn't shown.

I have just fitted reversing and blind-spot sensors to my FD, ( aftermarket) and found when installing the system, that the cable joins, were susceptible to an occasional loss of contact. I would chase back the loom from the sensors to the controller and check the plugs before removing the bumper.

Did the battery thingy this morning between showers.

Still same.

I'll put up on my ramps when I get time and check out underneath as from a quick look it appears there are 2 plastic covers which protect the petrol tank area and by removing may get access to back of bumper.

I did look to take the rear bumper off my FD to install mine, its not a simple job , particularly the reinstall.  Undoing the "seen fasteners" isn't such a big deal, there are  also a few semi-hidden ones on the FD. I couldn't find easy access to a schematic drawing.

I did find a youtube vid on the FD rear bumper removal, it didn't show the reinstallation, but the removal was somewhat awkward and It looked like a 2 person job to line up the "hidden" mounting bolts mid-mounted
on the chassis.

No idea on later models, I would assume something similar

Thanks for that.

Managed to get a look yesterday and from what I could see and work out it probably needs to come off to get to the sensors as the crash bar prevents access from behind.

Also, at least 2 people required as need 1 to hold the bumper as fittings removed.

The handbook isn't specific on what should happen when you put the car in reverse so I need to confirm what is the correct actions and what I should expect.

When I put into reverse I still get the 4 bleeps and the symbol on the dash shows the warning bars from the middle section of the rear of the car symbol.

Can someone with a GD or for that any with rear sensors check what sound(s) they have when putting into reverse.

Also, what appears on the dash to indicate the sensors are active.

Cheers

I have a 2015 SE. When I put it into reverse I get a single audible beep, and a car symbol appears in the dash display, but without any bars at the rear. As I back out of my drive I pass close to some shrubs so it then starts beeping again and shows some bars as I pass them.

I sort of remember what you describe so I now know mine is not right.

There is a local auto electrician so I'll call in and get their opinion re cost as the rear bumper has to be removed as when I looked the rear cross member bar prevents access.

Cheers..
