The Judge was too lenient.  I hope the Attorney General lodges an appeal on a manifestly inadequate sentence.   Rolfie should have been put in the slammer for at least 5 years, not walk out on parole of two and a half. :'(

Post sentence no doubt deported to OZ to live on Centrelink old age pension. :whistler:

No doubt if he had committed the crimes today he would have been put away for a lot longer.  Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the sentence has to be similar to what it was at the time the crime was committed.

I was perplexed at a comment on Sky News this morning, they referred to one of the victims as "alleged victims", he has been found guilty now, she is no longer an alleged victim, she is a victim.

Unless she's one of those who came forward for future processing.

Pretty sure, that the women who have finally come forward would be happy with that verdict, even if he didn't spend even one day in prison, the women have achieved their objective,he has been found guilty of the offences he has been accused of,the victims have peace of mind, his life is now in ruins, the victims can get on with their lives knowing he has been outed,no more paid appearances,no more record royalties, even if he gets through his sentence and is deported back here Phil,I doubt he will be welcomed by to many people.

Every time now his name is bought up anywhere in the Social and electrical media he will be crucified (having being crucified by social media I know exactly how damaging it can be,mentally and physically) this verdict will haunt and hinder him for the rest of his either short or long life.

While I in no way condone what Rolf Harris has done, do we really need to be doing this sort of thing?

:link: Rolf Harris to be removed from painting as sentence angers

Whatever he's done, he's contributed to our society, I reckon it's just wrong that we are erasing all trace of him and his achievements....

Next we'll be gathering up all his records and paintings and burning them....  :fum:

You are quite correct - sentencing has to be in accordance with the judicial standards that applied when the offence was committed.

However - it is by no means certain that he would have received a longer sentence if he had committed the crimes today. Our judicial system is an inconsistent farce and people have committed rape or even murder and got away with lesser sentences.

Alan, I think the Aussies are more cranky with Rolf then you mob are.  RH has 'let the team down.'

I do hope he gets his sentence extended.

He obviously thought he could desert Australia and make more money in England.   Good riddance I could never stand his sort of entertainment anyway, embarrassing it was. :fum: :-[
