EYE30 posted this info on H-F (but can't see it on our site?)

Latest testing of i30 has given it 5 stars in ANCAP testing rather than 4 stars (as per euro testing)

Here is a link to the article..I will also post this link under reviews if it isn't already there!

From the way I read it there are two reasons it fared better in this test....

This time it appears they tested SR (which along with SLX has more airbags than SX previously tested) and secondly I quote...

"Originally, the i30 had only a four-star rating but Hyundai Australia recognised that the only thing preventing it from achieving five stars was the driver-side knee protection and convinced the factory to change the outer surfaces of the lower dash on the production line in Korea."

Good Ha....

I'm glad I got the extra airbags then - I'm now a 5 star rating :)

On our local (Tassie) news tonight they got all excited about the fact you can now get  a car in Aus under 30K with 5 star rating ... showed the lancer and the i30 but didn't name them.

Good stuff  :P

5 star safety for under 30k, that is great news. The first small car to get a 5 star rating was the Renault Megane...UGLY. Rather drive I30 anyday. 8-)
