Hi all,  does anyone know if the new shape i30 1.6 diesel  (62 onwards)  has a cabin filter?   if yes where can I get one from in the uk and is it located behind the glove box like the old shape.  Cheers.    :goodjob2:

Mine is plate 12 petrol.

It is behind the glove box.

To get to it you have to flip the glove box forward.

You disengage the box by loosening the two turn knobs in the glove box on each side.

Then slipping off a lever type rod on the left outside.

Once the glove box has flopped forward you see the filters on the right side.

There are 2. Small one and large one.

Details are in the handbook.

Easier to do than the fd model

Every 2 years.

When i had my fd i bought one from the dealer, £15 i think.
That was 1 filter.

I looked at mine at 16 months and was dirty so i hoovered it and put it back in.

Cool i will have a look over the weekend.  I've found a link to some filters....  I think these are the ones.  http://www.expressfactors.com/Single-Part.aspx?PrevPage=PARTS      My car was 6 months old when I got it so I got the dealer to service it as part of the deal.   :goodjob2:   I will service it again in april.  Do you know what's done on the second service?  Oil, oil filter, air filter and diesel filter as well as the cabin filters?    I suppose that would count as a major service?  what about brake fluid?  My brother got me all the parts i needed from his work except the cabin filters.   :D

Nice one thanks for the info.  :goodjob2:  I might contact my local hyundai just to see what the price is for the second service and what I get for my money.  I can always keep the parts I have for the next service.  I didn't realise it also had air con filters!  The i30 is just one big filter!!!

The cabin/air-con filter in mine has never been changed in almost 6 years.  I might check it.

Never any stale air in my car.... :whistler:
I was talking to a guy today who owns a VW Toureg V10 4WD and had it serviced at a very large and very well known dealership here in Perth since new.
Every service, the invoice indicated all of the many filters were changed (and charged for).
He then went to a respected non-franchised place that specialises in Touregs and was told that it was very obvious that none of the filters had ever been changed since the vehicle was new (it's now 8 years old).
It cost him $800 to bring it up to date.
Good old, trustworthy dealerships.......

So the question is do these filters have to be changed as not to void the warranty?  I mean if I got my car serviced at an independent and the filters didn't need changing or were just cleaned would that then void my warranty?  would I have to prove they were changed?  it seems all the main dealers have to do is say they were changed and charge you for them but sometimes not actually change them!!!

I always hated the midday phone call from the ford dealership I used to go to telling me my brake pads were 50% worn!!!  My answer was "well there's 50% still there"  I asked the guy would he eat half his dinner and throw the other half away???  he said no.  Case closed!      Even Lexus tried it on once asking £400 for a rear brake cylinder!  I had it checked somewhere else and it was fine!  I've found  a really good independent garage near me so I think I will take my car there.    :goodjob2:

The handbook/service book details the warranty conditions so need to abide by them.

It details what evidence is required and what should be detailed on the invoice provided by the indy garage for adherence to t&c's.

Re charging and not doing work....... i check over the car once i get home to make sure what i paid for has been done and or provided.

Yesterday I took the two filters out from behind the glove box for the first time since I bought the car almost six years ago.  They were quite dirty, with lots of plant material and seeds.  Bought new ones (they come together in one box) today from Hyundai - $65.25.  That makes the motor mower air filter I bought several months ago for $25 look cheap.   Next time I had better check Bursons etc.

That was actually cheap for a genuine Hyundai filter....  :goodjob:
Still, you'll get them cheaper (as Daz suggested) on ebay...

I had a quick look and found this non genuine one: :link:

There are others listed but it says they are for GD's with the 1.6 gdi petrol engine....I wouldn't have thought they'd be any different...  :undecided:

Sydney Filter Services might be a source: CRDi air filter $23; oil filter $15; cabin/pollen filter/s $35 and a kit of air, oil and fuel filters for $60.
