Hi all, tried searching through the site but couldn't find anything specific.

Anyways, seeing that my car is white I'm contemplating getting the windows tinted for that contrast look. I was quoted $325 for 'rock star black' from the 'Tint professor'. I was wondering if anyone else has had this tint done, what the quality is and if they recommend using the tint professor?

Also, are there any other companies that you'd recommend?

Thanks :)

I had my car tinted by the Tint Professor in Dandenong..... :)

Quite happy with the job they did and the price I paid.

If your car is under warranty and the internal door trims have to be removed during the tinting process, you will most likely void your warranty on the door internals. Hy will do the window tinting, using their preferred supplier (which could be the same company you are intending to use), then jack up the price accordingly, but warranty stays intact, go figure.  :Pout:

Valid point Phil, but I've never had a warranty issue caused by window tinters in any car (and I've had the last dozen or so independently tinted) * except for the Tiida mentioned below - and no issue with the doors.

Infact, the worst tinting we had was when they threw it in with the deal on Trish's Tiida and there were a couple of bubbles in the back window (the dealer just fobbed us off) :fum:

Just repeating the point raised I think, by Doggie1, when he purchased his car.

Yes, that's right.
Got told that by Hyundai and also the Mazda dealer where we bought daughter's car.
I still went independent though and the place I went to had cars lined up from the Hyundai dealership.
I figured if there was ever a problem with door internals, they'd be hard pushed to void the warranty given they use the same place.
It's just an excuse to rip you off and jack up the price of the tint.

Feel free to substitute "insurance", "airline" or "bank" into that sentence ...

Not a problem with the Tint Professor as they don't remove any door trims, well, they didn't with my car anyhow...  :)

I asked the guy who did my daughter's Accent about it and he said he rarely has to remove door trims. Don't think he did on the Accent.
Incidentally he does all the work for arguably the biggest dealer conglomerate on the Sunshine Coast, Cricks.

Anyway, there's no rattles. Nor are there in mine or my wife's which were done after market also.

G'day mate,

I went Master tint and from memory it was $255 cash.

I went legal on the sides and one shade darker on the rear window and small side windows in the hatch if that makes any sense.

They didn't have to remove the trims either.

I have used Tint-A-Car for all my cars I've tinted, always been happy with their service, they do not remove door cards(don't ask me how they get the tint down below the door line) never had any issues with any bubbling or peeling and I think they are comparably priced

On Whirlpool there are a lot of disgruntled Tint Professor customers: it seems it's a bit of pot-luck whether you pick a good franchise or not.

I went with Tint-a-car's Formula-1.  Took less than 2 hours.  After a week for the film to settle, there are no bubbles or visible flaws.
Formula-1 is supposedly best for reducing heat; their darkest tint is Midnight Express.

Thanks for the advice guys, called my dealer and they said that it doesn't void the warranty at all so it's just a matter of finding a company that I like.  :)

Hi all, ended up choosing tintacar, they had the best reviews online. So glad I did price was reasonable at $375 for the darkest legal tint and customer service was beyond exceptional. I recommend them to everyone :)
