I admit I'm putting this here for my own peace of mind.
I'm often trying to remember which type of bulb goes where, so others may find this useful as well.

Recently had my rego inspection due & initially got failed for faulty EPB switch & also amber coating on rear indictaor bulbs wearing & showing clear light.
So whilst we were stuufing around with EPB switch thought it a good idea to u/g turn indicator bulbs to LED.
Then after taking car back for 2nd inspection was informed that LED's not legal so wouldn't pass it.
Luckily I had bought a set of normal globes so just swapped them myself & got a pass.
Hy service quoted $25 per bulb supply & fit.
Be interested to find out what "plain english" rulings are on fitting LEDs . Had a look through NSW ADRs but not that clear.

Sound like $$$$ motivated BS to me. Put the leds back in and don't even mention them next year.

With all the upmarket variants coming out with LEDs, it would be a tough job for anyone to pick non-compliance by sight alone, unless the LED is so crappy it's clearly deficient through low or inconsistent light output.

dont recall anything much in ADR for LED indicator bulbs other than minimum watatge and amber colour. I even spoke to Police about it too and not anything they can pull you for in WA. I have classic car leds in mine

I don't see where they mention local distribution  The Car Bulbs Direct website says items are still shipped from the UK, contact numbers are all UK, Yorkshire.
