Hyundai get two cars into the top 10.

Where's the Ford Eco Boost models. Surely they can beat some of these.

I don't understand why VW have not got into the frame either.

Real-world MPG: 2013's top 10 all beat 58mpg - What Car?

All diesels or hybrids.
In my opinion with personal experience the Ecoboost range won't compete.
Economy isn't top of the priority list but to be able to enjoy a real driving experience is, in my personal case I get similar economy to my i30 with far better performance. Reliability will be something I'll keep an eye on and report back about.

But again, Ecoboost won't compete for pure economy with Diesels or Hybrids.

No sir!

Interesting article.  However, I didn't see any mention of how the tests were conducted.

The measure here though - is not the most economical car - but the one with the best percentage difference between the What car Road Test and the official figures.

Go on the magazine site - they explain it all if my memory serves me correctly.

Thanks.  Here is the link True MPG how we do it - genuine, achievable fuel economy tests from What Car?

I'm not saying these test are not useable, but they're done in normal traffic, meaning some cars have been facing more congested traffic than others, so IMO not directly comparable. There will also be different wind conditions.

Having said that, the result will most likely be closer to what the average driver will obtain.
