Title: Tim's at it again.
Post by: cruiserfied on July 16, 2017, 14:15:39
I was keeping this one quiet because I wasn't convinced it was going to actually happen.

Around 12 months ago I attended a family reunion and was packing the family up to head home and I heard the unmistakable (to me at least) Delta V6 coming through the caravan park past our cabin.
I rushed out to see a black Tiburon cruising up and was even more excited when it was my cousin driving.
I went out and talked with him, he was a bit confused as he didn't see any value in the vehicle. Said he was getting another 6 months out of it and scrapping it after getting his partner (who's car it was) a new car. My immediate response was no way no how, tell me where and when and I'll be there to pick it up.
So 8-9 months pass and although I thought about it often I just imagined they traded it or sold it on. Then my brother who lives near and works with said cousin had his Falcon written off was given the Tiburon to drive until he found a new car.
2 weeks ago he did find a new car, A WRX for sale in a used car lot that my company had recently taken ownership of. So I did he talking and got him a good deal, he came from Canberra to Tamworth to pick up the new car and left the Tiburon for me to do whatever I choose to do.

I have always toyed with the idea of a Tiburon daily driver to play with but could never have found the money to do it. And then this.....I plan to drive it around for the last month of ACT rego then fix the little issues it has and NSW register it around Feb-Mar next year. With the house move all week I have only just got it in my possession today and still only driven it about 40m down the road to park it in driveway but tomorrow I will be taking it to work 😄

Nice. I followed one in traffic the other day..
Have to admit to a bit of daydreaming.
It was red and the paintwork was mint.

I won't lie, it's rough around the edges.
Topside clear coat gone, both rear arches have had a light rub, must have copped some light hail.
RH handbrake cable broken, A/C compressor leaking and interior a bit worse for wear.
Mechanically fairly good though. Drove it to work today and it goes great. Gear oil change to smooth the changes and hopefully clean the throttle body and lube cable & pedal will loosen up the accelerator.

I don't mind the rims. But I've got a set of 19's in the shed that might look pretty sweet too.

Rolling restos are best.
Enjoy & improve.
