OOH AAHHH!! Hope that was your own lawn??? and not your Moms

Yes the bighorns are a fairly well lugged tyre and like you say would be noisey,I just had the A/Ts,they didn't get too noisy until you where over 80-90K's and then they were almost unbearble, they were not that good off road either unless you only run 10-12 psi, then you had sidewall issues, yes it is all compromise

took rolly and the wife to murphy's creek escape today for a look. was a pretty good day out.

bit of footage of rolly in action on their "4wd track". It was labled as "extreme - experienced drivers only" on the map, but was pretty mediocre in reality, but still fun

Great vids and pics again, even when I had my 4x4 last thing I would want to do is go out a deliberately go four wheel driving, but at the time I worked ona farm so it got a fair bit of use, only reason I wouldn't 4x4 ing again is I did eight years of it in the Army,I've had enough getting 4x4s and 6x6s out of trouble and bouncing around.but certainly looks like you and your wife enjoy it

bought some mad gear for this recently

when we got back from our last fishing trip our 3-way fridge was really struggling so i went and bought one of these - a 65L PRIMUS dual zone fridge freezer, its friggin awesome on 12 volts in the back of the car it took 45 minutes to pull the temp inside down from +21 degrees to -12degrees and about another 20 minutes to get down to -18. no more hot beers for me :drinks:

http://www.primusaustralia.com.au/index.php?p=line&sid=1341895712

so then i had to get a dual battery set up for the ute so i bought 2 x 100Ah deep cycle batteries and this to charge them off the ute battery

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/300886966014?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

the i got these to keep the batteries topped up when the ute is parked for a few days and the fridge/freezer is running

a 100w solar panel to mount on the roof of the canopy, it will take up about half the roof space and you can't see it from the ground when you are standing beside the ute

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271002601516?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

and a 30amp solar controller with data logging for the previous 3 days to keep everything happy

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261004126227?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

and these 12 volt outlets for the tray of the ute for power in the rear

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/300869441125?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

and incase everything goes to shit and its raining and cloudy and no solar power i bought this just to run the fridge and a battery charger, a 1kVa ultra quiet gennie, its supposed to be only 53dB, and run for 4 hours on 2.5 litres of fuel

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130795073913?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

i have also enquired about a long rang fuel tank, just waiting on the supplier to get back to me with a price and availability. it'll take my poxy 48litre capacity out to 112 litres  :happydance:

http://www.thelongranger.com.au/rodeo03longrangefueltank.html

pics will be posted when everything is fitted up

Sadly, most of the links aren't working, but sounds like a cool setup to me. Just make sure, no one nicks it all.  :(

Brett

Like you I like my creature comforts, sue would love to travel Oz in  caravan, but for me it would have to be a 45' to 50' fifth wheeler or a huge converted tour coach for me to do it.

I was looking at the LRT, was that how it stays or is there a protection plate that goes over it,just look a little exposed to me,just wondering,

*update*

got home from work yesterday, and had quite a few boxes of goodies waiting for me :D

so today was dedicated to the fitup of said goodies.

first up was the 100 Watt solar panel

and on top of the canopy

then the 30 amp solar charge controller, mounted and wired up

then the dual battery kit

changeover relay mounted. it cuts in at 13.2 volts and charges the auxillary batteries and isolates them when the starting battery gets down to 12.7 volts

indicator light and override switch mounted inside

oooooohhhhhh 200 Amp hours of deep cycle FURY!!!

and if all that can't keep up with my bloody freezer than this comes into play. 1Kva ultra quiet genset, just to run the fridge and a battery charger when there is no sun for the panel :D

goin fishin tomorow for a fortnight, so see how it goes :D

Brett good set up,don't ever come west my man,if you where caught with the batteries mounted there it would be a red sticker, had a mate did the same thing some years ago,he didn't get stickered for that, but for something else, not thinking he fixed the few problems he was stickered for, went in for an inspection, when the RTA inspector seen where he had the batteries mounted, they flipped wouldn't even let him drive the ute home he had to trailer it,big No No over here to have batteries in the cab with Ya

They give off Hydrogen / Oxygen in the  stoichiometric ratio which is explosive. You may have your own "Challenger" accident. If they say they're sealed, well, they are, except for the holes. :(
