Thanks Dazzler! Thought I'd make more of an appearance here from now on. My 2007 SR is still going strong (even survived cyclone Yasi lol)!

I think it that picture isn't a picture of an actual future i30. I think it's a Photoshop. But of course I could be wrong.

I suspect you may be right, accim, I notice it's the February edition too so more than likely an artist's impression of what it will look like. Motoring magazines are notorious for doing this.... :undecided:

Haha, maybe someone else has the same name. Though, I find all of the Top Gear guys having some issues with Korean vehicles. As if they were still in time when there were Hyundai Ponys and Accents. James May, if you ask me, has the least problems with them.. Of course, I might be wrong.

If that is the case - then why do they use a KIA Ceed for the celebrity fast lap drive.

TG's review of the i30 was VERY complimentary when the car was first introduced and surprised me at time as they had not been good to Hy before!

Probably to make fun of it :D Just joking. I would say to see how "celebrity" handle the "normal" and non-sporty cars.

Why do I think so? Because they used next cars:

- Chevrolet Lacetti

and

- Suzuki Liana

The Liana is actual from TG, I think.

Now tell me.. Do you think they loved those two cars so much? :)

  • Our i30 With no one else around
Hello all

It's been a while since I last posted anything, but I have been regularly viewing this excellent site.

Well, the new 2012 i30, inevitable I suppose, and a very nice looking car too.
But of course I still love our 2011 i30.

This new i30 reminds me of a (dare I say it) of the new Vauxhall Astra.
Any way it will be very interesting to see one for real next year.

Bye for now

Thanks accim  :brilliant:

Mostly impressed .. first impressions are a nice incremental update... BUT....

It will take a while for that big dip in the crease line below the mirror to grow on me I think... :undecided:

Edit: I like the new grill shape (a lot better than the Mazda 3 for example)

Takes on the current Hyundai look. Like the daytime running lights. Like the happy grill. Looks a bit like a Pug.

inside looks posh (although it is the high end model) Dash is ace.

Where is the important I30 (Ie the CW )

I see there is a slot for a CD/DVD above the main screen. Who still uses these today?  Most people use iPod connections or a USB memory stick - far more convenient.

The CD slot in my i30 remains unused.

I wonder when the new model gets here, whether it will be possible to buy a cw SLX diesel manual?
For some strange reason, in the current line up (in Australia) it's not possible. It's auto only in SLX trim  :(
I don't understand why they would make it any different to the hatch as far as specification goes.

If Tassie is anything to go by the SX seems to outsell the SLX and SR by a very big number .. There would be at least 5 times as many standard SX i30's (CW and Hatch) on the road down here than SLX/SR combined...

I assume they will  just stick the new front on the old CW rear and add a bit of a crease and tweak the rear lights.. :winker:

As I was sitting at the dealers, the salesman got the call from this woman, who wanted to know how much will the new i30 cost and when she could buy it  But, he had no info about the car. He just said, it will be here probably in 2013 (but has no clue about the CW) and that was it. The only info he had was, it will cost more then current i30.

All in all the car looks great (to me). To me it also looks a bit like Peugeot 308, but much better. Although it is very hard to make a car nowadays, that doesn't look at least a bit, like some other one. But I wonder how it will look in some more "affordable" equipment. Ehh..I know how it will look. Great!

Good point accim about the trim levels.. The adds over here nearly always show the SR and occasionally the SLX but never the SX  :whistler:
