Title: Random brake engagement when driving
Post by: Mapexslayer on October 05, 2023, 10:20:13
Hey guys,

First time post, and have tried searching for this issue, but it's definitely a weird one!

So my Wife drives her i30 Hatch every day for work, and recently just randomly (no common input from her or the car) the brakes seem to engage on the front passenger side and the car pulls to the left. She says it feels almost like the ABS is kicking in but the light on the dash that comes on when this happens (and not every time) is actually the traction control light.

At first hearing this, I thought maybe this is a sensor or some command getting send to the ABS system by mistake.

Any ideas? I'm going to read the codes tonight all being well and try to get more info if there are any DTCs logged.

Many thanks!

Have you checked the brake pads to see if worn or catching on that side.

Also, how are the tread depth as it could be skiding on damp or loose surface.

Definitely going to add those to the list of things to check mate, cheers!

My wife took my car this morning and my ODB reader is in the glove box  :head_knock:
